All I'm wondering is what's forcing the Broncos out of the EPA for game 6 if necessary?

Looks like a trade show according to the EPA schedule.

Looks like Boehm has his playoff game goin this year...a couple of goals in a 3 goal OT playoff game. Good for him, glad to see him and the Terriers do well. that's when you need his offense, tight games where goals are hard to come by. Maybe he is a difference maker in Yorkton. L4D

Boehm wasn't really much of a factor in the N.D. series and I was worried because I remember reading on the board how he disappeared in last years playoffs. IMO, the last game in the Notre Dame series as well as the first two against the Broncos, he has really picked up his game. Great to see!

The Terriers really didn't need Boehm to be a factor against ND we outscored them 18-8. But it is nice to scoring again.

The Yorkton logo that shows up on this board is from when? It's kind a cooler than the one on the jerseys.

Crazy game tonight.....3rd period was wild with some shaky goaltending on both sides. Looks like this one could go the distance.

Terriers played a crappy sloppy game tonight and lucky to come out with a win. Only one big save that I could see from Kale Thompson. His save percentage in this series must be terrible. I thought Humbolt was very good with there opportunities tonight. Humbolt's goalie made some big saves though the first two periods and then gave up some easy ones in the third. Yorkton has given up thirteen though the first three games and that is not typical Terrier hockey. Defensively McMullen has been terrible and I think needs to be reigned in on his play in the offensive zone. He's getting caught in way to deep to many times. Predictions for the remaining games....who knows what's going to happen. Both teams at times looked like they were running out of gas.

It doesn't look like Boehm is running out of gas....three goals in a one goal playoff game...I'm a believer now. Nough said....trade is lookin pretty good right now for Terriers. L4D

I know he won goaltender of the year and he broke an sj record for shutouts but I simply have no confidence that Kale Thomson is a goaltender that can win a championship for the terriers. His save percentage since the playoffs started has been average to below average. Does anyone that watches him regularly have an argument that maybe I'm missing. I'm amazed his goaltending only lost us one game so far against the broncos. If we play the Mils or Stars with that goaltending, it would be a very quick series. I'm no goalie scout so maybe I just don't understand what it takes to be a good goalie.

I'm in agreement with flyers on some fronts (that he's 7-2... could be worse, that he's shaky.) In my opinion, Thomson may not be able to get over the hump and carry the Terriers to a repeat. Essentially, as a 20 year old, this is his first taste of sjhl playoff hockey in three or more years (don't know if his midget aaa team made playoffs his final year or not). Mind you, this is the first taste of sjhl playoff hockey for all the goalies left! Thomson has been on the tough end of the mentioned "three headed goalie monster" until this year and goalie controversies are brutal for everyone involved (Vancouver, Toronto... how's that working?) I've been able to watch the mills, stars, broncos, and terriers this round. Game 4 in Humboldt was a quiet but solid game for Thomson... much different than game 1 of the series and I'm hearing shades of game 1 have been seen in all the games this series... except for game 4. Thomson had absolutely no chance on at least two of those Humboldt goals.... the odds of him making those saves are just as good as a guy missing an empty cage during the pre-game skate. Sometimes stats don't tell the entire story but here are some... season stats 1.89 GAA and .934 S%, playoff stats for March (excluding the last two games) 1.85 GAA and a .930 S%... putting into context Thomson's regular season stats (1.89 GAA and .934 S%) to Hrynkiw's last year they are about the same (Hryinkiw 1.83 GAA and a .939 S%). Last year in the playoffs (mind you Macauley played more games) MacAuley had a 1.94 GAA and a .932 S%... Lots of numbers to throw around but in the end Thomson is in the ball park. For me, the big judgement is the goalie's play in game and Thomson has looked shaky at times (I've seen bad rebounds, too deep in his net when the puck is at the hash or dot, dribblers squeaking through him, moreso playing scared about letting goals in rather than focusing on attacking/smothering pucks). Game 4 was a bit different which is surprising seeing how there were at least two big regulars out of the line up and a bunch of call ups (I think a d-man was playing forward). I thought Thomson wouldn't be able to handle it (especially after two no chance goals) because a lot of his bad play was due to shaky nerves but it didn't show up much by him in game 4.
All in all there is a large amount of games played already and you are who you are. Right now I'm sure nerves are playing a role here with the problems in net with Thomson. If I was a Terrier fan I would back off criticizing their decent goalie if they want a championship... I'm not hearing these criticisms from radio and blogs from Humboldt and haven't heard much about Plett's five goal blow up in a sweep game that forces them back to NB or Gudmanson being outplayed by a rookie. Thomson and the Terriers are winning games although having to face heavy pressure and criticism from their hometown. However, traditionally, the book on Yorkton fans is that they are highly critical. I'm even seeing comments tearing up their captain McMullen who I hear is a pretty respected player.

Not really much to tell about Plett's 5 goals. First one the Star's buried the puck out of a scrum in an opportunity they never should have had. Second goal, some people have a gripe with but as somebody who has played net I know that can be a very hard shot to stop. Player breaking in from the goalie's right side, cutting to the middle of the ice with a man to his right. Plett played the middle ground but Reich placed the puck in the hardest spot to stop, a foot off the ice blocker side just inside the net. Goal's 3 and 4 were blown assignments all over the ice that resulted in the puck carrier going to the net unobstructed. Goal 5, he should have had. But stopping that shot still leaves them 4 goals short of winning the game. The thing I see with Thompson is he's a big goalie, positions himself well, plays a blocking style game. But he occasionally has issues tracking the puck and he isn't as mobile in the butterfly as some of the other top name guys. He doesn't really need it much with his size, but there are times it is crucial. That's one thing you will notice with Plett, a lot of his highlight reel saves come from having well developed butterfly slides and very good puck tracking skills.

Twice this year I have posted on this board, my frustrations in watching Kale Thomson play goal for the terriers and right after that he plays some of his best hockey. Again tonight he was fantastic and I now know why I'm not a scout. Congrats to the Terriers on their series win and regardless of the outcome against the Mils, I am going to be cheering hard for Thomson and the rest of his Terrier team mates.
