Who would have thought these two team would meet up in a Hwy 10 final. Talk about house shxt luck for Billy Chow to change the playoff format and end up with a history making series.
WOW what a windfall for these two teams at the gate, packed houses every night, 50/50's. 7 games would be great.
Now that the WHL Regina & Saskatoon teams are out, might get some highlights on CTV.
Bring it on, lets have the trash talk start right now.

It is hard to fathom. When this new format came about it was mentioned that it created a possibility for a Yorkton-Melville final. So in this first year we not only saw a few worst case scenario matchups, but the best case as well. It also brought the first ever Melville-Battleford playoff series. As well as an oddity, I'm sure never before has the team that placed 4th overall in the league gone without home ice advantage through the entire playoffs. Maybe next year it can be Estevan and Weyburn?
Semi finals drew some huge crowds in Yorkton and Battleford. Melville was marginal. I think we are in for nothing but sell-outs from here on.

There is no doubt it will be sold out for every game. Great for both teams.

swkot, Your so wrong this time, as in your young age you show much wisdom. But you better do a little more checking history of the league, as I am thinking that a Melville / Battlefords first series took place, umm I would say sometime in about mid 70's. Battlefords was the much better team in that series. If I could remember right, thinking Battlefords took out Mils 4 - 2. Stars123 is that right and maybe have the year.

I could swear there was a tweet prior to the end of the regular season that made mention of these teams never having met in the playoffs. It is possible I misinterpreted whatever the point of the tweet was, seems to happen to me a lot reading twitter. But you are right, they played the Barons in the 70's and the Stars in 85 according to Wikipedia.

Well to keep my streak intact Terriers in 5.For the Mils to even keep the series and the games close they will have to stay out of the box.Terriers power play will make us pay dearly if we run into penalty trouble. Not having Moose is going to hurt but this team has persevered all year so who knows.Buckle up hockey fans this could be a classic.

I like the way you're thinking Scorp. If I have your predicting methods figured out. LOL

Could be a something with the predicting methods. Nobody (except Melville fans) predicted Kindersley to loose. Nobody (except Melville fans) predicted Battlefords to loose. And again nobody (except Melville fans) predicting Yorkton to loose.

Benny Walchuk (Terrier/Millionaires) play by play guy reported today that the first game is sold out and there were a few tickets left for game three. Tickets went on sale at 10:00 am this morning and Fridays game was sold out at 3:15 pm this afternoon.

There will be more tickets available after 8pm on Thursday for those season ticket holders that did not buy their seats.. Who knows how many that will be. Same thing will happen Sunday night or Monday morning for game 3.

Great game last night. Plett was unbelievable in net for the mils. I thought he was going to steal that game last night but Boehm came through with another clutch goal. Can't wait for the game tonight, should be another good one!

Can anyone tell me why Feisel was so upset after the game? Was it because of the penalty call or did something else happen? Did anyone watch the game on access? Heard complaints that the 2 broadcasters were constantly calling for Melville players to hit Thompson because he's hurt....if that's true, that's pretty classless. If Mospanchuk is back next game are they going to be calling for the Terriers to try and run him? Game 3 Monday night...can't wait!

Fiesel must have been upset with the call. I didn't see his reaction or the penalty.

The third period of the first game in Yorkton was huge and gave us a good indication as to how the two teams differ. Tonight Yorkton outplayed the Mils and never let off the gas like the Mils did in game 1. Mils have a steep hill to climb now.

The Cinderella team picked to place last this year is playing in the finals! Wow. what an achievement. The Mils are playing an experienced team that won the cup last year. Momentum changed last night when Kilback was given a penalty and game misconduct. Yes they have a tough battle. Let's keep the encouragement going. They have already overachieved. The last year's Mils with all the STARS on it didn't beat this Yorkton team! Now that was a let down!

Slasher - are you assuming the only people who read this forum are Melville fans, cause your blurb doesn't apply to the fans of the 2 time champs.
Of those of you who saw the game what happened to Plett after the 1st goal against? Was he hurt or pulled for playing poorly?
Also, the game sheet doesn't show Palmer making any saves. Just 3 shots against in 25 minutes of hockey and no saves. Is this real? Did Yorkton go easy on them in the 3rd?
Someone commented that last years Mils team was star studded and this years teams was better - perhaps - but aren't guys like Plett and Mospanchick, Walz and Kilback kind of stars? I didn't see any of the Mils playoff games but I don't think Plett has much to be ashamed of?
Just too bad they couldn't have earned another $30000 at the box office.

Congrats to the Yorkton Terriers on back to back league championships. It's was another great year of fantastic hockey from start to finish. I truly feel bad for Isaiah Plett...the guy played unreal and then to get injured they way he did tonight was very unfortunate. Looking forward to catching some games in Dauphin and cheering the Terriers on to a birth in the RBC!
Let's go Terriers!!!!!!

So much for all the big hipe about Yorkton/Melville series . A SWEEP that sucks your team is losing 4 / 0 and no one takes charge 2 pins. in a final wow !!!! old time rivals mmmmmm. Lack of penalty minutes really isn't indicative of the Mils not wanting it. It was probably one of their better efforts this series and they were very much in it until late in the second and the refs were letting them play. Yeah, the rivalry isn't what it used to be. Hockey isn't what it used to be either. The Mils could have gooned it up but didn't, I think antics like that are far below them. This was probably one of the classiest Mils teams we've had. I didn't see any of the Mils playoff games but I don't think Plett has much to be ashamed of? Plett was injured on the Gervais break away goal (prior to the goal being scored). Looked like he injured either his groin or knee. Palmer came in and let the next 3 shots in, and that's all he faced. It's hard to say if the Terriers went easy on them in the 3rd or not, the Mils held them off well in the second. To me they looked like they were kind of in preservation mode like the Mils were in game one. As far as stars, Plett is a star without a doubt. We've had some exceptional goalies over the years and I think he's at the top of the class, especially with his playoff performances. The rest are good players, but more system guys than the type that could really carry the team. Kilback could get there next year. Walz was close but he really tailed off towards the end of the year.

Classy Mils team last and same goes for Yorkton. Love them or hate them! Yes you are right this team made their own Stars. Slasher you have issues. As for Walz he had 11 points in the playoffs and participated in his first ever playoff series as a 20 year old. His tailing off could be the fact that he lost his linemate in game 4 of the playoffs against Battleford. It was hard to battle against those situations. As for Plett he injured himself on the play of the fist goal but was definitely injured before the goal was scored. Yorkton will represent the SJ well. Le's hope their power play starts to happen! . Good luck.

Like swkot said, the Millionaires were in it and had some scoring chances prior to Plett injuring his knee after catching an edge. Once the Terriers scored the second goal, a weak one on Palmer, you could see the air go out of the Mils. And while the Millionaires were a much improved team in the postseason, so were the Terriers. I don't think I've seen a better team since the Brady Wacker era Humboldt Broncos and this year's club is far better than last year's champs. Any time a team loses guys like TJ Reeve (injury) and leading goal scorer Tyson Predinchuk (leading goal scorer) I think they're bound to have some trouble generating offense and while they had great series with the Klippers and the North Stars, they really never found an answer for Yorkton's mobile defense that was always jumping into the play. There was never a lack of effort on the Millionaires and that's why people really enjoyed watching them play. They may be back in another final next season, since they have 19 players eligible to return.

Congrats to the Terriers, pleasantly surprised to see Boehm contribute to the cause, he is for real, wish both him and the team all the best in Dauphin and beyond... Terriers are a great rep for the SJ, could go a long way with this experienced team. Congrats to the Mils on pretty good season especially when expectations were pretty low to start the year. Its a bummer to go out 4 straight but that prolly says more about the strength of the Terriers than any weakness with the Mils. L4D

Congrats to Terriers for a successful sjhl season hopefully can carry it farther into Western Canada Cup and RBC Good luck Terriers.. Wanting to comment on brewersdroop comment on Melville having 19 players eligible to return. If teams have 25 cards and max 8 20 year olds every team has at least 17 players eligible it is not who returns it is who returns and is better quality over quantity

Not necessarily benthere as teams could have a ton of 19 year olds meaning some moves would have to be made. Also I believe it is 7 20 year olds next year? Correct me if I am wrong. But yes, the right guys returning (plett being a big one) will be key. Nice that the younger guys were put into crucial roles for a long playoff run. That is huge
