If I was forced to give testimony I would suggest Pompu's father thought his kid was one of the top 5 on the team, not just rookies but compared to vets as well and prompted his kid to demand 2nd line ice time at the least or ask for a trade. Perhaps the WEY coaching staff has spared the rest of the CJHL a head ache by letting them quit instead of dealing the cancer to a peer.
As far as the other guy, I haven't spoken directly to HIS father. can't say.
Oh - don't accuse me of rumors until I start one.

When are they going to address the elephant in the room in Weyburn? It's shocking how many players have quit or opted not to return. Clearly there is an issue with the player-coach dynamic. At some point the board will have to do something.

Why is it that the coach is problem when players want out what is it with entitlement maybe players should try and be accountable. Maybe Pompu wanted to play and felt a trade is his best option. Maybe he wants to be top six in PJHL.play at home is from Carrot River, but no lets blame parent for something he believed to be true and may or may not have said and label a kid as trouble and saving cjhl by not trading him. The Hawks should deal for he must be top six if dad said nothin wrong with A local boy. Coaches get paid a wage and with technology out there should never have to speak to parent after initial signing.....

I have watched him for a few years, not sure what the deal is. its difficult when things don't go your way, but how you go about things may be the reason that there is no trade. only time will tell.

Maybe there should be a lateral JR A league where parents are encouraged to have a dialogue with the coach, where the parent can explain all about their sacrifice and commitment and financial resources they put into their son, and how that entitles their son to a certain amount of ice time and or power play time or first line time. After all the team and coach should be grateful to have such a talented "team" member. It would be the same league for those players who refuse to report. Parents could be encourage to submit a list of places where "Johhny" would play. Maybe the teams could all be coached by a parent/coach committee who have no idea of the mentality/attitude of players or the physical nature of the game. A league where...the coaches refuse to report...cause, well the team is losing!! Finally admission to the games wud be free, cause truthfully it would not be worth watching. L4D

I actually agree with lefty on this. the finger always gets pointed at the coach, it must be his issue. He is the leader and has some part in this usually, but from my experience in rooms it is often an issue of entitlement, or the player doesn't want to put in the work. they start to pout, they play less and then mommy and daddy come in and "save" their baby. it is rare to find a good leader in these kids today, they want it their way and they want it easy. and the ones that are willing to do the hard things cant get enough of the spoiled ones to buy in. that makes it especially hard on the coach because he isn't in the room nearly as much and quickly needs to figure out which ones are willing to work. unfortunately the number of "soft" kids is significantly more than the others. I watched an AJHL game last night and there might have been 5 hits all game. the more they take the physicality out of our game, the less you will see the hard nosed, leaders that every team used to have. end of my rant for today fellas, lets hear what you vets have to say.

With pompu he is young and had impressive numbers in jungle b. That being said I consider smaaahl a far superior league to scout from as players seem to be younger and less glaring weaknesses that many Jr b players often have. Not saying this is case but was it? I've seen players destroy junior b and then sit on the bench or be a zero factor in the sjhl. But then there is colten Sanderson who played in pjhl then went on to univ. Of ND fighting Sioux. He had good but not the greatest numbers in junior b but had a more complete game.

Good points but keep in mind he was 16 and tearing it up. There are certainly nights or teams that may give you a few gimmes from time to time but it's a pretty competitive league with the majority of guys still looking to prove something. There are also plenty of guys who could be playing Jr A but have already found a great job locally or are pursuing an education instead.
