I was also looking at the CJHL pre season rankings for the 2014-2015 season and it had Ft MacMurray as number one. They're roster was very impressive but as most know they finished middle of the pack in the AJHL.. It looks as if Estavan is the same way this year.. Does anyone think the Bruins will perform to what their roster suggests?
Now for the Mustangs I have very mixed emotions. I don't believe we can rely on the minion line on its own and we could really use a couple 6'3" defenders on the back end. I think with Palmer between the pipes we are solid for goaltending. But if Boutin and teal don't step up, we won't make it very far in the playoffs.

Penticton got Broudors son in goal, as well as Owen Sillinger Pat C's star from this past year.

melfort needs more grit players period. you can have all the skill in the world but if you have no grit or heart players you can't win the big games. Penticton Vees lacked that. Melfort lacked that. Portage was the example of how to do it.

Im probably a bit biased, but yeah I think Estevan's roster will perform well. They have a great balance of different styles so if they can bring it together, they should do really well. They brought in Dane Schioler from Portage who will be that energy guy they need, and they have 6 of the top 30 in scoring from last season in the SJHL, plus Fuhr who was the Viterra MVP coming back too. Like I said, if the team can gel and come together, I don't think they will have any problems being at least top 2 in the league. Melfort should still be strong.

Totally agree about penticton needing more grit, great offensive team but we're shut down somewhat by a big good skating team. Melfort didn't lack grit at all for a smaller team, portage was simply better than them. As for estevan looking like portage, they definitely have some skill in their lineup now but the comparison would have to with kindersly but with not as good a goalie. Hopefully things work out better for them than they did for kindersly.

Will he sign or is he going out of province?

It's been pretty quiet here this summer on prospect news. Last year the team announced a bunch of signings but this year they haven't announced anything, even locally. So I don't know. He was a guy who played pretty well with us last year and could step onto this roster, but at the same time he did really well at the Telus Cup, so you're guess is as good as mine.

The SJ has a whole has been doing a terrible job telling people with the who's in who's out for the prospect pool. Has anyone herd if the likes of Teserowski, Kingston, Zary, Lambert, or Rothenburger have stayed in province?

I have heard that Lambert signed with Vernon in BC, and that Rothenburger intends to play with Nipawin.

I thought that Melfort had Lambert's rights??? It looks like he is on Melfort's protected list (according to one article online) but until he signs a card he is free to go anywhere he wants outside of Saskatchewan.

Pretty sure I saw that Zary signed, Kingston will be with the Hounds from what I heard at the end of last year. Just haven't heard about the other guys, or various others. One that I am interested to see is Riley Woods. He lit it up with the Bruins this past season when he played and recently signed a tryout contract with the Pats. Don't think he can make the team, so it will be interesting to see what happens with him.

mustangs have enough minions, lambert's stats were inflated playing on pp. he didn't do much 5 on 5. melfort needs some size up front to go along with the skill they have.

How's that for commitment!

I'm just saying is that Melfort has a pile of young talent, exceptional talent at that, and we are relying on them this year to win it all again!!!

I also think Melfort has built themselves very well to be a contender for years to come. If boutin and zarys resumes reflect anything about the future, it's that they will be leading scorers in this league come 2016-2017 season( and maybe if we get lucky, 2017-2018 as well!)
I can't remember who said it, but the comment about Teal Sobo being a stud is totally correct. No one knows for sure but this kid has the potential to be Melforts diamond for two more years.. The kids built, plays smart and has speed.
Another player I'm going to watch closely is Durham.. This guy improved 400% from the beginning of the season to the end. He isn't the prettiest player to watch but is gritty
