I would like to know if the game between Yorkton and Melville played Tuesday Oct 6th takes away from any of the 8 games they play back to back in the regular season. If so who replaces the revenue one of these teams will lose? The rivalry still brings out the fans and if this takes away one home game for a team then this is a really bad move on the leagues part.

I don't know for sure but I think each team loses a home game. Same number of games as last year. I also thought the idea of the showcase schedule was to reduce travel costs for teams, meaning FF and Est would be a nice show case game. Whoever picked 2 rivals to play on neutral ice isn't thinking alot. I am sure all revenue will be consumed in rental and hosting costs. How many fans will be there anyway, all the scouts have free passes. AAAAHHHH - now I see. The money saved on web site staff is footing the ice rental in Warman!

K no, any games played at the showcase are above and beyond the normal regular season schedule. The answer is on SJHL.ca... simply go to the schedule and count the games. These games were all scheduled well after the 56 game regular schedule was created. Relax everyone, the league isn't out to get you.

It certainly is an oddity to see the Mils and Terriers face off three times in 5 days. Maybe frustration will mount and we'll be treated to an interesting game on the 10th.

it is odd that they would have done it that way. Most of the other teams are playing teams they don't play very often.

Yes I see 56 games on the schedule plus 2 in Warman - So the league added 2 games to the season and I didn't see it or hear anything of it until now. I know nobody is required to notify me but I thought the league would have made that public. Changing the game totals from the last 2 seasons seems like a significant news story to me.

There was several stories about it on SJHL.ca and team websites that I saw.

Do these showcase games still count in the standings or are they exhibition?

If you look at the schedule the Terriers have printed for this season it says that we play LaRonge on the 5th and Battleford on the 6th at the showcase but when you look at the SJHL website it says Melville on the 6th. Which one is correct? I don't have much faith in the SJHL website.

"They had to alter the schedule to accomadate all 12 teams." That was nice of them to not exclude anyone. Are they saying they actually forgot someone in first schedule!

I heard the Bombers Klippers exhibition game was fairly well attended in Warman. 500ish fans at a neutral site and only 2 days notice.

I am mistaken, they are listed on fasthockey but are not being broadcast. I clicked on the Estevan laronge game and advised that they are not being broadcast.

Kinda figured they weren't broadcasting the game online cause they aren't even doing the online scoring either.

I was told that each team has to supply a worker a the show case too. What a joke really, Warman gets all the profit and teams need to find a volunteer to work at the games. Rediculous.

I was listening to chow in the game time radio broadcast between notre dame and melfort and he said laronge was getting profits from some of it to offset what they couldn't fundraise during the fires this summer

I heard 1 volunteer then I heard 3 volunteers per game. 2 1/2 hours for a game time isn't much time. Is there a second ice surface to warm up on? I guess there are things that could be improved but sometimes you need to get thru one to see what was missed. Scheduling refs was a challenge due to the day time games. I suspect there will be a few officials who will only work the showcase and never see the inside of a franchises barn. What profits. Isn't the whole thing free to watch? How are they making money? If I had to volunteer I would rather work a game my team wasn't playing in so I could watch and cheer when they are playing. Should just hire a local hockey team to do the clock etc as a fundraiser for that team.

i have to say it wasnt very well organized (big surprise). most games had no announcer, no music at all, no online scorekeeping, no video broadcasting, and games were behind schedule. only thing they had consistent volunteers for was 50/50 sellers and one guy from Flon worked the box and got the gamesheets to the teams...most teams did bring volunteers to help in the box which i found odd that teams were expected to have people(especially the southern teams)...they used practice pucks that werent frozen for the games. Nets werent drilled in, only those stupid pegs were used and of course the net was often out of place (once during the notre dame vs melfort game and the goal was waved off) i guess as long as the game is played the scouts dont care about all of that stuff???

The showcase for the most part has been a mess since it's inception. Your never going to get the same level of volunteerism, supporters, or care for that matter at a neutral site location where nobody gives a crap.
