If Melfort cab play a whole game like they did for the first 25 min of this game they will absolutely stomp the Hawks. That's how they are suppose to be playing . got to cocky and let up, game should have been 10-0.

Split the hairs as you like but Nipawin basically didn't show up for period 3 of game 2 and started with the same effort next game next period. In all truth these 2 teams can shut each other down, and they can take control and go on a roll, they can both get lazy and sloppy and lose that momentum.
Tuesday I think melfort was lucky / fortnate etc etc to get that late 2nd period goal and maybe the intermission break cause without that I think the outcome woulda coulda been different. It was a great game and that why we watch hockey. Wow Melfort scored 5 goals in 21 minutes - do the math - Nipawin scored 5 in 11 minutes. They are both powerhouses. Nipawin got scoring from the team, Melfort had one line break loose

Unfortunately one of these teams is going to lose the series. But that being said what a great series, great plays, excitement, terrific rink atmosphere in both barns, what more could anyone ask for? Why would anyone want a series with two outstanding teams to end in 5? I hope it goes 7 because it doesn't get much better. Everybody should be thankful for the opportunity to witness and enjoy a great series between two great hockey towns. Would a blow out by either team make for as good a series, I don't think so. I have a personal interest in the Hawks so Go Hawks!!!! and if not them in the final Go Mustangs!!!!

I've been told by several people that for game one, the mustang organization gave every fan on the Hawk's fan bus $5 off their game ticket. Nice sportsmanship gesture in my opinion. Kind of a thanks for coming guys, please buy beer and 50/50 etc., pretty classy in my opinion. Now, I was not at the game in Nipawin unfortunatley due to other commitments, but have been told by numerous people that the president said "absolutely not" when asked about the return courtesy on ticket prices in the line when the mustang fans were unloading from their bus. Too top things off, the owner of a local hotel in Nipawin was so embarrassed he actually handed a mustang fan $150 cash to be shared amongst the bus. Can anyone confirm this?

It is true that the Mustang fans on the bus did not get the $5.00 off there game ticket for game #2. When the call was made to the Nipawin ticket office informing them of how many were coming on the bus (so tickets could be set aside) there was no $5.00 discount returned in kind for the bus coming from Melfort.

That was awfully nice of the Mustangs. I'm not trying to discount the gesture. It does seem reasonable for Nipawin to not be able to do the same. Melfort Likely has one more home game at what? $30,000 and $10,000 - $15,000 more per game for the others? Maybe Melfort would like to pool gate revenue for the series and split it 50/50?

I don't really blame Nipawin, they can only hold half the fans the palace can. They need this revenue, so does Melfort but we are getting twice the fans. Im glad Melfort did that for Nipawin, as much as i dislike the Hawks right now(and their fans), its good to have them come to the games.
Besides, Ill pay fifteen dollars tomorrow to watch the Mustangs kick some Hawk A$$!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all I don't think it's a big deal getting $5.00 buck off my ticket If I want to watch hockey I'll pay the price Secondly Our rink only holes approx. 1000 to 1100 people Melfort 2000 plus so why give $$$ away when we have to work so hard to raise money to keep our teams afloat , don't get me wrong if we could let fans in for $5.00 off, that would be $5.00 less then regular season price . hope this makes sense . the tickets are cheap to watch this kind of action next one won't even come close. Mouse Turds will NOT win in 5 these teams are going the limit !!!!!

Note - when I get worked up over lies towards friends and false accusations I tend to type long notes:
If a team wants to give something away and decided they can and will afford it, they have every right to do so. But no team should expect another to respond in like manner without having an opportunity to discuss, decide and weigh the situation. Teams finances are in the hands of a board, not one president, or one person. A single person does not have the right to disperse money from the club at will. So expecting a retrun gesture on short notice is improper. These are not privately owne teams.
More people drive to the rink than ride to the games so why don't those who are paying for gas get the discount? Hey if Melfort wanted the deal, they should have asked ahead of time to allow it to be set up,. storming the door expecting a discount is not right.
As far as the Hotel owner being embarrassed, that is likely a lot out of porportion. But he is personally resonsible for the hotels finances and he can toss money around on short notice.
2 yrs ago Nipawin asked Melfort for 2 for one deals if Hawks fans were dressed in Hawks colors with the offer to return the favor when Melfort was in Nipawin. The Mustangs responded with something like "Why would we do that, we would give up 50 to 70 tickets while Nipawin would only have to give up 5 to 10" - cause at that time Melfort fans weren't travelling like Hawks fans were.
At the end of Feb Melfort and Nipawin agreed to 2 for 1 tickets for the home and home but Melfort went ahead and changed the deal without consulting Nipawin. Not that Nipawin needs to be in their decision , but when the deal is for both rinks it would be common courtesy to be transparent when changing plans.
Melfort seems to be willing to give away revenue when they have big crowds but less willing when they are running a tighter budget. Understandable - Melfort can do what they want but Nipawin has to be responsible for their own balanced budget and if they can fill the rink with $15 tickets why give them away for $10. When the rink is empty, it is a different story.
Nipawin did not up their 2nd round tickets, Melfort did, Why did they do it, cause they knew 300 people from Nipawin who never had season tickets would drive the road to watch. $300 extra grab from Hawks fans - then they give $5 off to 50 people and they still come out $50 to the good just on Hawks fans, while gouging their own after a season full of support, Nice way to say thanks to Melfort fans.
I am not just sharing my opinion here. These deals discussions are factual. So both teams have said yes and no over the years. It all depends on the big picture.
The President did not say "NO". Call him if you like. I know he will accept the call and explain the situation. I won't share his number but if you care enough I am sure you can find him on a web site.

Sorry for more - but the hotel "owner" may collect a few dollars from the Nipawin bus riders while they wait, making it less of a finacial sacrice to offest the Mustang tickets.

Good lord I can't wait for the Mustangs to close out the chicken Hawks on Saturday night so I don't have to hear excuses about the petty cheap board from the petty cheap fans. The Kentucky fried chicken shack was far from full on Sunday and without Melfort fans would have been down right pathetic, so don't give me this story about not returning the favour because seats are at a premium. Mustangs in 5, enough said.

Nothing will be better then crushing the Hawks in their chicken shanty tommorow night. I'm sure the Mustangs will have to dodge goal judges, refs, and a mediocre Hawks team but none of this should be an issue. There will be more Stang's fans then Hawks fans so it will almost be like another home game.

The Mustangs don't have to dodge a ref as bad as the hawks and mostly Johnson, they hate him and he will never get the benefit from any ref in this league.

The mustang fan bus had 30 people on it as it has limo style seating. So if 150$ off tickets is gonna break the Hawks you better get off the forum and go pick bottles.

Thats not the reason I posted it, from where i was in the crowd at the palace last night, I noticed palmer's water bottle sagging a fair bit on top of the net. I'm think thats likely what happened in this play. Is it time for the league to put the water bottle holders on the back of the net's centre bar like in the NHL etc..... Thoughts? You may need to use a computer, picture isn't as good on a smart phone.

As obvious in the video as it was in real life. I was standing right there, only a 80 year old blind man could miss that goal, and I guess that's why the Nipawin goal judge missed it, he fits the description.

Ah proof.... the goal was in, the goal judge is old and is a cheater 2 as not even looked at by official so his opinion means as much as your video absolutely nothing. Maybe makes for a little Melfort self pity. Hopefully the Mustang worked on there turn an pretend were hurt when we get bumped to draw penalties. Worked awesome in the 1st Tuesday night then refs started to see thru the crap and the game turned around. Melfort fans might be worse than Nipawin ones for blaming the ref or off ice official, full of excuses with series lead. why? Nervous, or just preparation cause if they play may more than 5 games Hawks win and all excuses will be needed..winner of game tonight wins. Will be mustangs in 5 or hawks in 7........Go Hawks..

Goal judges are for show, they are rarely asked for an opinion by a ref. They are glorified shot total adders.

Where on here has anyone blamed officiating for bad calls on Melforts behalf, other than a goal that was obviously in, and happend right infront of his face? With how much Hawk's fans about reffing, I can only imagine how it would've went over if that had happend to them. The video was posted as I said in regards to the water bottle issue. Had the goal judge have turned the light on would that have made a difference? Quite likely but we'll never know. Regardless of the goal judges be "glorified shot counters" you still need to have someone capable of doing the job in the event the game does require their judgement. If you honestly think that the reffing was the problem in the 1st period for the Hawks in Melfort you are delusional and don't know hockey! Your team didn't show up and Melfort played well. The game turned around completely because Melfort was careless and made two horrible turnovers giving the hawks much needed momentum. From there, Melfort hit the panic button and the hawks capatalized on their chances. I better go before my post ends up as long as Someguys!
