From what I saw and replays lost battles in corners, along the half wall, and behind net. Match ups for d pairings are key, will be a bit difficult without last change. Should still be a good game just need a 2 game winning streak.

Interesting that the ties in the standings in the Dudley Hewitt, the WCC and the RBC were all broken by the results of the 1st game of each tournament. I guess it proves you can't sit back and let any opportunity get away. Going hard from the start has given 3 teams the home ice advantage in the playoff rounds. PS - i love the 3 pts for a win idea.

watched the rbc cup final, portage just to strong and physical throughout the line-up. a good show of what team make up should be.

Yes good on the mjhl and portage terriers, the mjhl send the fewest players to NCAA div 1 of all the western jr A leagues......so I think for the SJ and the MJ it's good to produce national champs out of programs largely ignored by big school USA. Scratch yer heads and wonder Alberta and BC. L4D

As a volunteer at the event, most would agree Melfort had the most polite players and fans of all visiting teams at the tournament. Passionate and good natured. It was also unanimous that Pentiction would be at the opposite end of that scale complaining about pretty much everything. Carleton Place was also easy to deal with and all around great people. Last night's actions by one player shouldn't tarnish that hopefully.

Wicked two hand slash with 30 seconds left, man handled the linesman to the point of drawing blood and knocked over all the tables with their food on it on his way back to the dressing room. Drew match penalty, minor penalty along with misconducts. He's a 94 though so suspension may be a non factor.

I was in Portage for most of the week and everywhere I went with My Melfort jacket on I took some good hearted ribbing. The people at the rink from the dog pound, training staff, ticket people, bar tenders, ushers and everyone else was courteous and very helpful. Other than not having Pilsner things were great.
The rink was great and the hockey was top notch. If you want to take a bit off in a game you are going to pay for it.
The game we played against Carleton was one of the best I seen us play in years. It was the first time in 16 years where I just quit doing what I was doing and watched the game. I sure hope we don't have to wait another 19 years to do it again.
My one regret was I wanted to go up in the booth where they were doing the webcasts from and was told I couldn't. I wanted to see how they were hooking into fast hockey. maybe next time.
