If true there’s no way they can actually turn a blind eye. I have more faith in the current league leadership than the previous to make the correct call I agree with you joker. Also the story has gotten out and is widely known now, if the Broncos have any integrity they’ll get in front of it and make a decision before the league even needs to. From everything going around it’s not even rumour and speculation but facts and significant damage caused, the community of Humboldt themselves probably don’t want to see the player back on the ice this season. This is such a massively disappointing thing to happen and is unacceptable in this day and age. Last night it was a “rumour” according to Gerald and I didn’t think it was fair to be discussing it without more knowledge. If what you’re saying is true, and I have no reason not to believe you then I agree that a) the league needs to be the disciplinary and b) that it is massively disappointing to the team/league/fans

Heard a young guy from my hometown got a dui ice fishing on sat….he’ll learn his lesson from the law, not the league.

It will be interesting how the league handles this. It will be precedent setting for all teams / players going forward. Can’t sweep this under the rug and then throw the book at another. Uhhh, yeah, but it's the leagues darlings - the Humboldt Broncos. With the draft rigging Paying players This i'm sure will be hidden quickly if they can. d**n wrong and mad in one post.

According to SJ website, said player is gone indefinately. This is the right move for the league right now. A message has to be sent that there is no tolerance for these actions any more. Gone are the days when junior hockey players could get away with whatever they want in their towns and I’m grateful for it.

Going to court on May 8, Northeast Now has a story on it including a picture of some of the damage done. What a mess. Hopefully this can be used as a lesson to other junior players of their responsibilities to their communities outside the rink as well.

Hey wingnut1970 Where do you get the draft rigging from? It looks like the sjhl and broncos have dealt with the goalie, everyone makes mistakes , it’s what ya learn from them

Have to give kudos to the league for the quick action and also for releasing their decision to the fans. Doing so ends all speculation and also shows respect to us fans by releasing the information on the website.

When the Bombers sweep the broncos next series the suspension will be essentially 4 games. If the league waits for the court date to make a decision he would have much opportunity to finish the season as like the rest of the team. I would suspect he has shared more with his coach and thus the league than with the media and the leagues decision is based on his own confession not speculation.
So 4 games seems light. So does 7. You could strip him of his stats and eliminate his season from existence as a punishment, but in two years that would be like brushing it under the rug and washing your hands. Not sure what the league could do more than what they have. But it seems light.

But that was a good attempt at throwing a humorous spin at such a tragic topic.

I’m sure the final decision on the length of his suspension will come once everything has made its way through the courts. Have to say I feel a little bad for this young man. He messed up in a big way and I’m sure he regrets his decision that night. He can be thankful nobody was hurt. I can also guarantee there’s many on this board who made some dumb decisions they wish they could take back in their younger years and some think their has never stunk. Tough lesson

Tough lesson I agree with you on this. And furthermore, if it happened in July know one knows, know one cares. I would venture to guess there could be a few players in the league without the ability to drive from the same decision in their past.

Not sure what the league could do more than what they have. But it seems light. I don’t think the league has the need to do anything more. He will not be finishing off his last season of Jr. A hockey. They have made a stand by implementing that as punishment, so what if it is just 4-7 games. End of his SJHL days, end of story as far as the league is concerned. Instead of trying to rake him over the coals to make an example of him, the league suspended him for the season. Now, there is a young man out there who is carrying a lot of regret and emotions for a bad decision he made. As a league that is meant for mentoring and building young men’s characters for adulthood , this is not a time to throw him under the bus. He will need some help getting through this. I would hope that the Humboldt Broncos and the the SJHL will also be supporting him through this. I’m not saying it doesn’t come without consequences, but we must remember that he is a young man away from his parents who made a mistake. Anyone who thinks this doesn’t happen in their world is wrong. The only difference is he got caught. Thankfully no one was injured. The teams and league can use this as a reminder to all the players and staff that bad things do happen when you get behind the wheel after drinking. I am sure we will hear nothing more from the league and the legal system will take care of the rest.

More accurately, he's an early 2003 birthday. So he's already 20 but would have been considered a 19 year old this season.
