I understand there are plenty of variables that go into scheduling but the trip to Nips one day and then from there to Estevan that night or next day makes no sense to me. It would be one thing to start in Nips and have that 6-7 hour haul, depending on January weather, but after a trip to Nips and a game already under their belts, it seems a little crazy. No knock on the results, both teams are playing great but to me anyways, it seems to be little more logical to haul ass down to Estevan the day before you get going and play there, onto Weyburn, crash in Regina and play the Hounds and then have a shorter leg to Nips and shorter haul on the long Hanson afterwards. I suppose there could be other variations such as the old Nips - Wilcox - South trip but the first two is a hell of a grind if you ask me. Good to see a big crowd again in Estevan. I think they've done as well as they could turning the corner this year and onto the next when they host.

they typically stay in Regina for the entire road trip. Nipwain to Regina = 3.5 hours, 4 on a bus. Regina-Estevan 2hrs, Regina-Weyburn-1hrs, Regina-Wilcox 30 mins. Wilcox to Flin Flon, 8.5hrs. In total its a long haul, but I'm not sure there is a better schdule to be had with this road trip.

The only way something like that works is if the league were to start their scheduling meeting and give La Ronge and Flin Flon the opportunity to book their road trips prior to the rest of the scheduling taking place. Otherwise there are a lot of chips that have to fall into place for "ideal" to become real, because they are just working themselves into available slots.

Fair enough. I've only travelled as far south as Weyburn so my travel times came from Google. Like I said there are many variables - especially that of the schedule but I don't see why they couldn't at least try to make one big southern swing as friendly as possible considering every road game is a good 3.5 - 4.5 hour haul. It was nice to see the 3rd string get in there and come up with a big W and hopefully they can make it a 6 for 8 pt road trip tomorrow night!

I think if you look at the business side of this road trip, this is as about as friendly as this road trip is ever going to get. It is quite the long 4 in 5, and it is a lot of hockey, but I truly believe regardless of the outcome on this road trip, Flin Flon (under Mike's hand), come's out a better team. Maybe it has to do with bonding, or maybe it has to do with the last game being played in Wilcox, I don't know. It definitely makes a fan excited when they get back to the friendly Whitney.

I considered starting a new thread on this, but it is not fair to a goalie to have his own thread.
Hofley has been terrible since boom boom went down. He was pulled tonight. What is going on!?! Thoughts?

Not sure what's going on either. But if you check out the goals against in most games, if they give up one goal, they are giving up a second one right away too. Hope Mike can fix this problem before March!

Don't worry about the 2 quick goals against. Nipaiwn will take them in pairs - LOL.

Unfortunately I cannot comment either but sure hopes it gets turned around soon! They have a 'favourable' schedule to finish out here so hopefully they can get the wheels moving forward again.
