Broncos looking for a new gm/head coach, that didn't last long. moved some players out, looks like new person will have a lot of work to begin his tenure.

That tenure sure wasn't as long as Deanos...

No kidding. He made quite a few moves and looked as tho he wanted to build his team from the ground up. Then leaves a month before training camp. Could be a tough year for the broncos.

To bad for the club. Good for him. Pretty short notice and I agree there may be some personel work to be done. I can't believe the article for the SJHL website : 1. made it there within a week of being announced and 2. wasn't written with about 10 lbs of toungue in cheek

Darrell Mann... Had a good Tisdale team. He is also clinically insane. Have you ever watched him while coaching? He's a maniac. Can't imagine a single player enjoys playing for him.

He's the best coach in the AAA league hands down. His players love playing for him. Don't judge things that you aren't informed about.

i don't care how much he knows about hockey but he has ZERO people skills when it comes to players, parents, refs, etc, etc.

maybe the Broncos will stay within the SJ this time as they look for a coach.....I think any SJ coach needs to know the league very well, cause so far none of the recent Alberta/ Manitoba coaches have done a darn thing, or even made the playoffs....correct me if I am wrong. L4D

Also had a lot more scholerships then the Mustangs of today. I'm talking Div 1 too not the Div 3 a person sees now a days.

wow didn't know that. totally makes up for all his antics on and off the ice. my bad!!!!!!!!! No it doesn't, his antics are off the charts. But if you knew the man the guy is one of the best off the ice but can really get carried away at times on. But for a 'Lack of people skills" the guy sure knew how to recruit, and some would buy in 110%.

I don't consider hassleberg a "recent " coach in the SJ... L4D

I thought anything under 5 years would be recent..
here are some interesting stats: In the last 4 years here are the wins by teams...
hum-133 batt-131 Mlv- 124 Nip-124 Yor-123 FF-116 Kin-104 ND-102 Est-98 Mft-97 Wey-95 la-91
I was wrong.... Among active coaches in the SJHL hasselberg has the most wins in the last 4 years.. I went with 4 years because Kevin took over in 2011-2012..
As for "new" coaches Mylymok won 37 games this past season in his first year, but he was from the Yukon.
Smith was in his first year with Humboldt from Manitobia and he made the playoffs.
Thoma was in his 2nd year from Alberta and he made the playoffs..
Martin missed the playoffs in his second year. From Alberta.

I may be wrong but I don't exactly think that you would call smith and thoma's seasons successful even though they made the playoffs, in fact anyone I have talked to in weyburn was shocked that he was resigned this year

Fine...hire coaches with no SJ experience, hope it works out for ya. If I understand, correct me if I am wrong, you seem to be implying that any SJ experience for a coach is not necessary if your coaching in Battleford. I can accept that. l4D

You could be right.....i think they should hire Michael George.....assistant coach for 4 years in the SJ and the AJ, former SJ player, knows the league, gets on well with the players....hope he gets a look. L4D

Georgie is doing pretty good for himself now from what I understand taking over his dad's clients. Pretty sure he wouldn't be getting back into the coaching game with the money he is making now.

Yes you correct.. He's doing very well for himself appearantly. Also playing senior hockey.. I doubt he'd come back into coaching... As for having to have a great knowledge of Saskatchewan players and the SJHL, of course it would be great but I don't think it's as crucial as it was when out of province kids were considered imports.. Now kids have can come from anywhere in Canada and not be considered an import.. Will be interesting to see who Humboldt picks.. I'd be shocked if Zinger was the new guy.

All over twitter today, Darcy Haugen new HC and GM of Humboldt. Former Estevan assistant i guess who has a bunch of successful years in Alberta Junior B.

He was very successful in Alberta at the Junior B level. Had over 300 wins in 12 years. Sounds like he could do well.. The only thing is, Chris Lewgood was also very successful at the Junior B level as well, and it hasn't carried over. Hard to know If his success will cary over to the next level.. Will be interesting to see.. I think it's a great hire.

Junior B these days is more about talent draw than coaching. Being a "desirable" place to play pretty much puts you over .500. Even using Pilot Butte as an example, they were good before Chris was the head coach and have a combined regular season win percentage over .800 the last two years with two different coaches. They also made the finals the last two years as well.

Congratulations to Mr. Haugen. I wish him all the best. It will certainly be a difficult challenge but it's nice to see somebody new to Junior A get the opportunity to see what he can accomplish.
