The Yorkton SPCA is in dire need of the public's help. On the morning of March 28th, one of the maintainance workers at Yorkton's Farrel Agencies Arena was shocked to discover 22 abondoned puppies. All appear to be in good health, and it is apparent that they have been well fed and properly sheltered this winter. However, all appear to have been beaten prior to being abandoned. It is unfortunate, but the SPCA does not have the room required to shelter this many dogs. It is nescessary that the public pass word to anyone looking to adopt a dog and help prevent any of these poor guys from being put down and suffering more than they already have. All the dogs are house trained, but some may need further training to become the perfect family pet. Some cower when confronted, some are agressive and do not get along well with others, and some refuse to share toys and food with others. One has a particularly odd habit of falling down whenever his nemisis (the cat) comes near him, we currently believe he is just looking for attention.
The dogs are esimated to be between 2 and 3 years old, and are of numerous breeds and sizes. A couple of the larger dogs would best be suited to a country environment, like a golf course for instance.
In all seriousness I must say that despite being done for the season, Terrier fans have nothing to be ashamed of. They were a team that, at the beginning of the year didn't look capable of giving anybody a run, at least on paper. In fact, most SJHL fans had written them off entirely at mid season. I am truely amazed at the way the Terriers thrive off fan support and play purely on emotion in the playoffs. This series could not have worked out better, who would have thought we'd be so lucky to see the Mills and Terriers go to game 7 in the south final, in a season where financial issues have been the story of the year. Plus, it is always nice for somebody else to win once in a while.
