PRINCETON, N.J. –South Carolina rookie left wing Trent Campbell is the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for Mar. 31-Apr. 6.
The 25 year old had six goals and eight points to help the Stingrays go 3-0-0 and finish the regular season in second place in the South Division with 97 points (47-22-3). The 47 wins are a team record and the 97 points are the second-most in team history behind 100 points in 1996-97.
Campbell started the week by scoring the game-winning goal on the power play and adding an assist in a 6-0 win at Augusta on Apr. 1. The Beauval, Saskatchewan native recorded his first professional hat trick and added an assist to tie his career high with four points in a 4-3 win at Charlotte on Apr. 4 and then ended the week with two goals, including the game winner, in a 4-3 win at Augusta on Apr. 5.
The 5-foot-10 and 175-pound Campbell, who has a four-game goal streak (7g), is tied for the lead among rookies and tied for third overall with seven game-winning goals. He is tied for fifth among rookies and for ninth overall with a plus-minus rating of +26 and has 49 points (22g-27a) in 57 games.
Before signing with the Stingrays on Nov. 14, Campbell played in France where he had four points (2g-2a) and eight penalty minutes seven games with Villard-de-Lans.
Prior to turning professional Campbell played four seasons at Lake Superior State University where he had 90 points (36g-54a) and 102 penalty minutes in 153 games.
