for those who never seen on a hockey site
cherepanov died during his khl game on the bench
excellent talent who set a rsl record for goals by a rookie with 18, beating ovechkin, bure, malkin and kovalchuk
probably would have made the rangers next year

Yup, that sucks big time. Would have been another dynamic euro in the NHL.

I'm sure he played for Russia in the inaugural World Jr. A Challenge in Yorkton in 2006 also.

yup this is bad news. but one thing I dont like is how the rangers say that NHL should give then free draft pick because they could not sign him. Its not the leagues fought that the kid is died. But this is bad news. I wonder if players from the NHL is going to stop going overseas to bad.

A little tidbit www.tsn.ca/story/?id=2558485 of 67 players tested in the KHL has a health concern. I would say this is a high percentile. 7% of them, man o man.

thats brutal. But, as for Russians playing in Russia: They don't have the choice until a certain age. To my understanding, they have to play until there contract runs out, and if they don't, there are some serious penalty's against them. For example, being exiled, banned from the Russian Olypic teams, ect. Some players don't have the choice. I read once that Evgeni Malkin could be put in prison if he were to go back to Russia>I don't know the truth to this, but its alot different than canada boys/

I could bet some money the Russians would not keep Malkin off the olympic team.

Defibs: Flin Flon just got one for the Whitney, how many other rinks in the SJ don't have them. Just have an oldtimer or a Jr A player die in your rink from a heart attack and watch the fur fly. they cost less than $2500 Sad

One was installed in La Ronge last month.
The price is $1700 bucks. It was purchased by 3 organizations in town for the rink.

Every rink should have them, just for the piece of mind they bring.
