The Mustangs don't ever get mentioned on here, which hey... Is probably a good thing but for the record.....while everyone on here has been yammering on about the Bombers lack of discipline, Estevan selling the farm and Rockie Zinger being an anger filled goof of a coach... The Mustangs have won 10 of their last 14, have points in their last nine games, knocked off Notre Dame, and Kindersley... have 2 of the top 5 scorers in the SJHL and statistically the best goalie in the league (only lost twice in regulation in 17 games.)
27 years of mediocrity and finally some success!!!

It will be the 20th anniversary since Melfort last hoisted the league cup, i think its about d**n time we have a team thats a worth contender. In all the years i have watched the Stangs play, i have never seen a Mustang club that handles the puck better than these boys. We actually have plays being setup! No other team attempts more one-timers than Melfort either lololol From what i have heard from a couple guy, the team chemistry off the ice is great, which makes all the difference when developing a winning team!

To answer your thread "No"
Just kidding, yes they seem to be on their way somewhere most want to be. PS if you really want a lot of "reads" on any thread you need to include the following words in your opening comment, in particular order:
FF Flin Flon Shift work Reagan Bombers or Boombers might work too!!!! Take a shot at Lefty or Mango and you'll go viral!!!

Sure I would love to talk about the Stangs...is it the coach, recruiting, players maturing.... combination of these...who knew.... ? I don't recall any predictions putting them near the top of the league. L4D

See my code words are already working!!!!! Lefty's IN
I expected Melfort to be strong after last year, Few 20 yr olds to leave and they developed after the coach change. I would like to give some gredit to Gavin for recruiting the current mob in green but I don't know if he was a good Gm less than good coach or what

Spears does a very good job recruiting and scouting himself, he very well could be the best GM we have had since the great Leonard Stranberg

I note there are about 10 1994 born players on Melfort, I assume 2 or 3 sit every game, wondering how that is going to work goin forward, will there be trades, strengthen the team even more for the future.....are there currently injuries to a few 20 year olds...its just a different situation.... L4D (not Lefty)

Today Melfort traded Jamie Miller, a 94 born for futures to Dauphin. I think they are trying to look towards the future

L4D (not Lefty) Aasan hasn't played at all yet this year with a leg injury. Heard not to start skating until after new year and with the d that melfort has he will have a hard time taking a regular spot. Wilton has been out for over a month with a upper body injury as has argant for a couple of weeks so will have to see when they can come back. Serafini doesn't play much not sure if shoulder is completely healed or just needs to get int game shape. So that is 4 -20 year olds that may be out a while and with trading Miller that only leaves about 5 who are able to play at this time.

The Stangs are finally getting quality goal-tending night in and night out. Nothing against Rediron and Romanuik but you never really knew what you were going to get out of them. The line of Frei, Mayan and Boyer has been consistent and the addition of Landon Robin seems to be paying off.
But at the end of the day... i think the most underrated move of the year was getting Luc Lemire (94D) ive watched most of the games this season and he is a true diamond in the rough. Great defenseman. Not flashy but gets er done.
In a 7 game series with Flin Flon or Kinderlsey... Do you think they could hold up? Or is there anything missing?

No problem someguy....assuming Melfort and Flin Flon meet in the finals, and it went 7 games....I would be thrilled....I will here and now predict, if that happens, there will be 5 bus loads of fans goin both ways.....and the 50/50 will reach 25K at the Whitney. won't predict a winner, but it means the Mustangs and Boombers will have beaten some very good teams to get there. Hope it happens. L4D

the biggest difference I have seen from last year is the never quit effort that is relentless all game long. It also just never shows up on home ice but on the road as well. the team chemistry seems pretty tight. lots of injuries but the new guys have really filled in when asked too. will be interesting too see as the year continues.

lincolnburrows I like lemire also but loses some battles in the defensive zone. lost one in melfort against weyburn and gets undressed in Kindersley. I think with there depth they I would be looking at some of the other bigger guys for those last few minutes expecially in the defensive zone.

OK I don't want to talk about the Stangs pounding on the Bombers last nite, well in the third period anyway. L4D

The Bombers got off to a good start in the game and had plenty of momentum in the first period.
After that it was all melfort... Should have been a 6-1 game but Palmer banked one into his own net off Raukman. Bombers really undisciplined late in the game too running around and being dirty. Regan got tossed too!!!
Mustangs have the season series I think now correct?? If they end up tied later on?

I have to admit, we definitely had the bounces last night, one off the back of BoomBoom and a couple other ones where he pretty much backed into the net himself. That Boom goalie was a good get for Flon, don't let the score fool you, he is an unreal goaltender.

Melfort has won 5 of 6 1 in Ot 1 in the SO and when FF won it was a SO. 2 more to play I see. So if tied Melfort should get the tie breaker win. This is scuzzy for the Hawks cause 3 of 6 times FF played Mlf both teams got points. Pretty hard to catch someone when that happens. However - Nip has only played Melf 1 time - a win in Melfort may I add. with 7 more to go. Nip has to play FF 4 more times so the Sherwood title is still in the hands of the Sherwood teams. Laronge could be the spoiler.

the only thing worth mentioning is that melfort still had several players not playing because of injuries.

I guess this is how good teams win. terriers deserved better fate but could not pull it out. I think the worst game I have seen melfort play this year.

Melfort had no intensity what so ever, it looked like they just took the rest of the game off after they scored the first 2 goals.

wow, I believe the playoffs will come down to coaching. If this is an indication of how the bench is managed it will be a quick exit. Players who are playing and having a good game need to be rewarded. Players who are struggling (no matter if they are a 20 year old or not) need to have a seat. If its a physical game put players on the ice/line-up who are able to play that kind of game. I think some of the players who play every night are becoming complacent and not ready to play. Make them earn there ice time. I don't know but the last few games this team likes tired and not able to play for 3 periods. I very much hate the long break between games and think it does not help.

If your a Melfort fan it was truly a hard game to watch, I agree with nofav to much Emphasis put on past play and not enough on present. Long break or not you need to have the boys ready to play mentally and physically. Let's not have the wining streak turn into a losing skid!!!!!!!!!!!Long bus ride home

What is the final diagnosis on Hirskey? Seriously - how is he? Curious who Sargent is signed with, After the local kid plays 4 yrs with his JR A team he goes on the game sheets as an AP for the rest of the season? Anyone know which Jr C team in Regina has his card? Better qurestion yet, can anyone on this forum name a Jr C team from Regina? I am laughing _ I don't really care , but it was interesting he was an AP Friday.
