Looking forward to the free streams and watching the game tomorrow night! I hope the boys and the fans show up full of piss and vinegar.

Interesting to see a game, never mind Cassans team in Kindersley tonight. Nice night for Deroose if there were a bunch of scouts there a day early. Too bad it sais there was only 34 in attendance...

What's with the team full of midget sized players on Canada west? Tons of players that are 5,7 to 5,9 and majority of the team is under 5,11. I would think this is gonna come back to bite Canada west' never mind if I was a scout I wouldn't have much interest for them at least for pro hockey at any level...all that being said I'm super excited to watch a ton of hockey over the next 8 days. I hope someone knocks the states off their ivory tower and I'm interested to see the Denmark team, they may actually dominate the tourney when you consider how they manhandled the Rosetown mens AAA senior team 6-0. Gotta remember that's MEN they beat quite easy. Whoever thought to move the tournament to December is A friggin genius, likely start getting teams using this as. A tuneup for the world juniors a week later not to mention better players may come since a lot of leagues slow down around Xmas time

Canada West looked weak in the exhibition game against USA. Canada held up in the first period, but got beat to pucks, out-worked the rest of the night by USA. Canada team looked to have terrible attitudes on the ice. Here's hoping Cassan has a little bit of luck for the weekend, and can maybe control his team, he sure didn't have any in Eston for the pre-tournament game. To be honest, it was actually embarrassing to watch Cassan and Canada West, he let them do and say whatever they wanted all night, hope this doesn't continue for team West at an international event.

last nights game against the danes was theirs for the taking but they blew it in the end. good effort, good passing but very undisciplined which ultimately costed them the hockey game. my review:
the good: -good passing -intensity was good -good goaltending -next game they now have 2 games as a team under their belt -if there is a game to lose last night was the one. next game and the game after are CRITICAL AND basically must wins
the BAD:
-poor start danes had 2-0 lead early in 2nd period -offensive zone penalties and retaliation penalties costed the team 2 pp goals against ultimately the difference -last goal the dman got caught flat foted against the worst player imaginable #9 overall leaf pick Ehlers for the game winner -a lot of missed opportunities for Canada west could not beat the Denmark goalie if they learn to bury their chances they will be ok in the future -Denmark has been playing together as a team for quite some time so last nights result not suprising and there is room for optimism a nie comeback from 2-0 to tie the game showed some heart could have been worse when you add in the numerous major junior players on Denmark, some draftedbythe nhl, some have had 100 plus point seasons in major junior hockey and experience internationally I want another crack at this Denmark club I think Canada west can still take them but it will take a 60 minute disciplined effort. with their elite level scorers if any team stops playing for even5 minutes the danes can score 4 or 5 times quickly -

Wow, just noticed Bjorkstrand was in too. I would suggest they remove the JR A tag or next year when Sweden or another incoming hockey power wants to sprinkle in some major junior / KHL players like Denmark has been allowed, so they don't have to explain the double standards and politics. I understand these are not the World Juniors and I understand the development model in having so many kids get the international exposure but why do we have to handicap ourselves at almost every other tournament hosted on our soil only to get steam rolled by the Americans national team. It would be nice to leave the provinces - regions out of it once in a while and select the BEST players period to represent us. Too f'n nice all the time and it's not doing us any favours.

i think hockey Canada is gonna be forced to send only 1 team to represent Canada at this tournament in the coming years. the opposing teams continue to send more top prospects every year and Canada is holding pact and its becoming rare for either west or east to win a single game against any team. 1 national team would do just fine against any country at this tournament even the united states.
I actually agree with letting Denmark ue major junior players in a junior A tournament. it adds interest for fans and sets a precedence for future years and other countries wanting to send their top players to prepare for the world juniors but with that being said there needs to be only 1 team Canada, similar to the cutdown to 3 team Canadas an the under 17s. NOTE: aside from the major junior players on Denmark look at he number of Russian players and perhaps other countries as well that have players that have played games in the KHL. the friggin 2nd best league in the world the KHL!
as it is the sjhl is getting screwed over every year at roster selections so it don't make much difference if theres 1 team or 2 teams the odds are at least 1 player will be from the sjhl.
I think fans will support 1 Canada team even better then the current setup because it is a TRUE national team and fans like to feel that they are seeing the absolute best at any level and not a sawed off squad as to not offend anyone and play nice politics between the 10 leagues. as it is the sijhl, qaaajhl, mhl, nojohl and usually the mjhl don't send a single player to these tournaents so makes no difference to them. do we really need 5 players from Penticton every single year?? hasn't worked for a few years running now having other leagues take it up the A#@%^@$^ from the bc league. anyone else notice tht every time Saskatchewan hosts an international hockey event they leave a legacy in place from that year going forward eg: 2006 the SJHL came up with the idea for the wjac and this year the event has been moved to x-mas which is gonna raise the amount of star players from other countries coming to CANADA early to prepare for the world junior tournament a week later.....

I don't see them reformatting for the sake of winning or even being more competitive. This tournament doesn't exist for the purpose of patriotism but rather to showcase the top players in a more competitive atmosphere.

Although I agree, patriotism sells tickets in my books, not an exhibition. I feel this will always set the tournament back. If these kids are the top 40-45 in Canada, I doubt they're going to be fanned on by the scouts whether for Major Junior, NCAA or the Pros. If I saw great benefits and results from diluting the product I would be 100% on board but I haven't seen then yet. We've seen some great picks and success stories come of this but I don't think anyone would've been denied the opportunity had we implemented the idea of winning over competing.

Its good hockey but anybody else see the west team throw many hits yet? Their good but just seems there's a lack of that Saskatchewan heart that brings out a teams character. I just can't see west going anywhere playing rec hockey...were our own worst enemies in sjhl, Hobbs has played 4 games in sjhl gets most ice time, wenniger riding the bench and is young the 14th forward only guy throwing the body

Its the overcompensating thing to not look biased. Wenninger never gives up more then 2 goals rarely, young was the only player laying the body but he wason ice for aa lot of goals against but most if not all were not on him either he was just getting on the ice and was not able to enter the play etc....I didn't understand the style of play cassan went with but then again its a showcase of top prospects not neccesarily best players thus the rationale for Bchl heavy lineup as that is where all the prospects have been identified that is what scouts want to see I wouldn't read too much into the last place showing its not indicative of the western leagues

Interesting comment made from before the tournament. Not so surprised to watch Canada West throughout the tournament and see their finish. Not very surprised. Nothing against Trent, but would have been nice to see a little more class, skill, and hard work out of Canada West.
