I have watched the Terriers for years, and they have had some great teams over the last few years. I understand that this is a rebuilding year and I expected as much. However, there is a differance between a competitive rebuilding team that gets better as the year goes on and this team which lately seems to have gotten worse as the year has went on. Also, there seems to be a lot of floaters on this team...quite a few guys on this team should not be back next year. If you are going to rebuild you need guys who want to bust their ass every night and not look like they are indifferent to the outcome of the game.

Gatzke gets a major and GM for boarding. This will be a great opportunity for the league to show inconsistency in their BS rulings. I wish nothing against Gatzke but a precident has been set for hits like this. Will he get 2 games? Doubt it. Open ice collisions deem 2 games, will the major on the boards???

Wow hockeyfan really disappointed!!!!! As you have watched junior hockey for all those years I am sure you know what a cycle junior hockey is due to the age limit and how a team must change year after year. So as Trent and Don have been together running the Terriers for 5 years and in those years have gone to playoffs every year and ended up in 4 league finals winning 2 of them along with being national champions one year ago. They have made trades and recruited players to fit into the style of play they require and seems they have had a good track record over the past 5 years . As the Jan 10th deadline is gone it is probably what we have for this year but I am sure are already planning for next year , so I guess this year is somebody elses turn to step up as champion but I am sure this does not sit well with either and will make adjustments needed for next year.. Really so you are disappointed I am sure not as much as they are and if you want disappointment talk to fans from Estevan Melville or Flin Flon and see if they would trade there appearances as league champions with what Trent and Don have done over there 5 years.... Please get over your great disappointment cheer on the team for this year and look forward to next year.... I am sure your Riders have told you something of next year over the years... See you at the rink

Benthere. You didn't read my post too closely did you. I said I expected a rebuild year and had no issues with that. In fact unless we have an amazing recruiting year, we probably will be rebuilding still next year. However, I do expect a team that competes every night. Competes does not mean "win". It means, leave it all on the ice and do what you can with the talent you have. There are too many guys that seem to have given up on the year and that is something as a fan that ticks me off. Trent and Don aren't the guys on the ice, it's the players that decide how much effort they are going to put in. You make a lot of assumptions about what I was saying, unfortunately none of them were right. My main point is that I am DISAPPOINTED WITH THE EFFORT OF SOME OF THE PLAYERS ON A NIGHTLY BASIS, NOT THAT THEY WERENT GOING TO WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP! Just my opinion!

Most games at home this team works pretty hard but lacks offensive ability. I have no issues with them not making the playoffs if I see what I call natural progression as the players get older. Next year I don't see that offensive progression with the forwards other than possibly Sookro. Defensively I think this group will be real solid as they get more playing time. Goaltending has been sub par all year. So.... Trent and Casey will have there work cut out for them trying to reload once this season ends. We will find out through out next year if Trent with Casey's help can be as good as Fiesel...Zinger!!...and Regan in terms of recruiting and or trading for talent. I would hope with Casey's Eastern background that he may have some connections there.

I think that is a pretty fair assessment. Definitely see some potential with their defence but up front the cupboard is pretty bare of pure offensive talent (other than Sookro and Ross possibly). I just don't know, maybe effort isn't the issue, maybe it's as you have said, that some of our veterans just haven't progressed. Just to put a positive spin on this, guys like Hunt, Gatzke, Zadorozniak, Santoro, and Ellis (he was throwing some good hits after missing 2 months), they work hard every night but they just aren't natural offensive producers. I love Terriers hockey and rarely miss a game, sometimes my passion for the team and the game doesn't always lead to well thought out posts.
