Throwing games - Really - The coach can't say that to the players and the coach can't say that to the Pres. So all he can do is sit the vets and play Ap's. Thats what Melfort did last night - right, thats why they lost - they want to throw the game - As IF. You couldn't pay a Hawk to loose to melfort or vice versa. I don't think you could get a Bomber to let the Wolves win either - Maybe someone outside your divison but not a rival, the players want to win cause they are male. Financial speaking I think it would be good for Nip to play anyone BUT ND. but hey, we could chat a bout scenarios all weekend but what if - ND ends up 2nd.

bombers have thrown games in the past.....1978, some of the older fellas may remember, it was a three team round robin series with the brandon wheatkings and another team. Bombers lost to weaker team which eliminated the wheat kings from the post season based on total goals and wins etc. that was some stink. Bombers play whoever the bombers play if its ND...who cares, you never win a championship by trying to avoid tough competition....its a mind set l4d

I think things are fairly settled now with exception to who plays who in the survivor series. Flin Flon might be able to move ahead of Nipawin yet. I can't imagine either team would rather play Notre Dame than Melville. Not likely going to get much for fans going either way, but only one of those 2 teams have proven they can win the tough games. If it comes down to their final game of the season and they are tied for points, maybe they can have a game like this: www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/tennessee-girls-high-school-basketball-teams-banned-both-trying-throw-n312011

Yeah, I think the Bombers would relish the opportunity to eliminate the Wolves tonight, especially since the Hawks still have the inside track on 4th even with a Bombers' win. Plus, it just seems in sports that when you try to game the system, it ends up biting you down the road. The Bombers could very easily eliminate La Ronge AND get Melville as their playoff opponent -- might as well dash the hopes of your hated rival in the process.

I don't know if a team would actually throw a game but it's pretty easy to see how the Bombers and Hawks both might not be as motivated to win on Tuesday. The winner gets to face a red hot team that finished 23 points higher in the standings than the team the loser gets to face. Pretty good chance the fans don't get to see any great hockey that night.

I think you might want to check your math.

What's 79 minus 56 if it isn't 23?

My bad. I read into it wrong. I read into it that ND finished 23 pts higer than FF or Nip. Time for some sleep. lol

While I can totally see a team throwing the game on Tuesday due to variables like money in the bank for an extra round in the playoffs, I can also see the upside of winning. Lets say everything stays as is and with the favourites going threw after the quarter finals... that would leave Melfort VS FF and lets just say Kindersley VS ND if they take our the Hawks which would be great but if you turn the tables and the Hawks finish 6th and beat the Mils, that leaves a great semi against the Stangs which would be huge for finances. That also leaves FF or ND up against the Klippers and I would say that's ever so slightly better than playing the Stangs but come the playoffs, the top teams are all pretty d**n close by my estimation - outside of home ice advantage. It will be interesting to see how she lines up after Tuesday night and what those two teams see as he right path. You certainly have to beat the best to get there but is money in the bank and maybe a less banged up squad more important. No knock on the Mils as they certainly won't make it easy on anyone but it has been an interesting stretch drive!!
