If a team isn't ready to play back to back games at this time of the year theres got to be something wrong . 18 to 20 year old players if there not in shape by now they will never be in shape .This is the best time of there lives you only get one chance to play JR. Hockey so GO HARD OR GO HOME !!!!!!!!!!!! Truer words were never spoken Slasher. This has all of the making for a great series and I can't wait to watch it. If the Hawks can control their discipline they stand a chance if they don't it could make for a short series. Go Stangs

Never know where I will be traded to next. Maybe the Hawks. Or maybe I'll be out of your hair. May the most persistant team win!

I read Johnson got an extension. I guess it makes sense, you should try hang onto a coach that's won your first playoff series since 2008.

I believe coach of trojans in Tisdale as well as buisiness owner. You extend coaches that recruit well bring stability to organization and are able to coach. They have to be able to do all 3 because not enough money to go around. Cost Holcomb his job in Melfort not being a coach. Now Blevins gets to reap rewards of Holcomb recruiting...... realitycanhurt

Some organizations are happy with being satisfactory, stable, or good at recruiting. Look at Melville for example, sure they've made it to the final a couple times and been competitive. Does that mean Fisel has a golden ticket? Should he not be accountable at some point? Bottom line is you play this game to win, and thats why Mann and Holcomb aren't here anymore.

Melfort has been out of the 1st round 1 more time than nipawin since 2000 so hardly an organization to model yourself around. Should probably fire Blevins if Nipawin takes Em out going by your theory. I guess Cassan will have to win a league title next year or be unemployed.

I think your missing the point, avg. is only so good for so long then the FANS who pay money and corp's who put in thousands of dollars want to see results.

Don't think many expected a sweep but most expected expected a better effort last night. With all the hype I was expecting more from both teams not a lot of emotion shown in front of a very good crowd. Give credit to the Hawks for slowing the game to a crawl by clogging the ice and taking few chances and keeping the stangs to the outside where Obrien could have a chance to stop the puck. There was little big physical hits by the Hawks they were just getting in the way of melfort and stopping them from doing much-it worked. Melfort looked like giving little extra effort at times maybe took Hawks lightly. But as poor as they worked they only lost 1 game- in overtime and it is another game Sunday

The Melfort players must have read the poll here and got a little too comfortable. Hawks were the better team last night but tried giving it away with multiple unnecessary penalties. That won't work at The Cage. Much harder ice surface to be short handed on.

He has won games and done well in the standings. But what specific "unreal" things has he accomplished??

Well, I would say that the only a couple roster changes was from Holcomb recruiting some good to great players. Holcomb had the team until November of last year. Also, as a fan of the Ice Wolves, yes, but we're not talking about the Wolves, you post on here like a 10-13 year old kid.

Pretty sure dwights connections got most of the players here when Gavin was here. I know for sure he brought Mayan because he told the story at the banquet.

I can't help but be intrigued how far apart the 2 series going on right now are from a fan interest perspective.
Stangs vs Hawks: 12 page thread after only one game, which saw an attendance of 2030.
Hounds vs Klippers: No thread to be found, first game attendance of 602.

Its sad really, it seems nobody really gives a hoot about the Klippers.. Friday night, Semi final, a great team with the chance of winning it all, 602 people at the game.
When i made this thread, the Nipawin/Melville game wasn't even over, thats the kind of anticipated excitement i felt.

Well they dropped the first two in Kindersley so I'd say ND will clean sweep the slower Klippers on the big sheet in ND. But back to this series. Melfort 5-2 Win with an Empty net tonight. Melfort series in 5.

Now a best of 5. Each winning in opposition rink. This should be league final due to fan excitement in both towns. Now a Saturday night game in Melfort on a holiday weekend should be a huge crowd. Hopefully series clincher for stangs but these teams are playing very tight hockey so you never know

Who ever wins this series is going against one of two teams who have 30% of the fan support of Nipawin and Melfort. What a slap in the face to communities that actually want a team. Notre Dame is a school so whatever, but Kindersly has no excuse. Move the the Klippers to Meadow Lake, bet anyone a brown bill that they would get ATLEAST twice as many fans a night, regular season or playoffs.

To be fair to Notre Dame they are very passionate about there Hounds. Probobly the most of any SJ Team... And yes including Melfort. Just to small of a school, not like they don't care about there franchise... Did you see a red and white night. To bad this wasn't a younger league could you imagine if all those alumni woulda stayed to play junior with the Hounds.. Those bantam and midget guys... To bad this wasnt more like BC... Young and opportunity.... But why am I complaining when there's 2000 people at the Palace and loud as heck at the Cage there is some good hockey being played in Sask gentleman and glad one series is taking notice! Not much better then sold out crowds that's for certain.
