Well, called it. Stangs in 5, dominate win. Hats off the the Hawks players, lots of fantastic players and played a respectful game to the very end. Tough to watch young men's Jr. Careers come to a close. Good luck to all their 20 year olds.
As for our Stangs, just another step toward hoisting the Canalta Cup and then making our way to the RBC cup.

As much of a beak show I've been, it's hard to see the 20 year olds skate off the ice. Good luck in your future endeavours, and cheer for the Hawks, they will be a powerhouse next year.

Congrats to both teams on a fantastic series. To bad this wasn't the league final as I don't think the emotion will be as high with either the klippers or nd. The fans beaking each other-most of it in fun I think- brought a lot to the series. Both teams fans are passionate about there teams and it showed in these games. Good luck to the graduating players from Nipawin on there futures and to the ones who comeback next year I hope the year ends in another series like this one

Sjhl2000 or whatever u call yourself these days. Who do u think u are Temmu Selanne? Rob Nedermayer? Maybe u bonked your head prior to retiring, I dunno. For being as involved in hockey as you are, and for u to say we should go back to Nip for 6..... Really? That's as dumb as most of Someguys long winded garbage. Doesn't matter now though does it? So far I've watch hawkeyplayer and slasher put their tail between their legs and leave the forum.
Someguy! Are u next?
p.s. Thanks for the beer tonight sjhl2000. Cheers!

Good luck to the Mustangs. Here's hoping your team is still playing in late May. Bring it home for the SJ.

Some of you predictors must work for enviroment Canada. Johnson sure lost it last night heh! If I left the forum it would be to remove myself from the company of name callers and low lifes, not because my team lost. If that insulted you, you put yourself in the category - not me. I'm still proud of the Hawks, A great year and 4 great games in this series then something that should fit better into a preseason schedule than a post season schedule. My comment on gouging the Melfort fans for $1 was sarcasm. And the comment on take the money while you can - was about Melfort not KK. Reread the thread if you sober up. It is all there. Realize also that forum posters drop off as teams get elimiinatd from the playoffs, because people follow the forum to see what affects their team. Need proof - it's the same reason few MJHL fans read this forum. Their team isn't here. Running with tail between legs is just another low life shot from those of low self worth. Have a nice summer. Sorry there are few ND and KK posters for some of you to share your maturity with.

Im told 2105 is a sell out (code wise), there was certainly more then that IMO. I'd say 2300-2400 would be a fair guess.

No doubt in my mind more then 2105 were doing the wave at the palace last night, what atmosphere. Biggest crowd I seen in a long time... It's nice to see.... But definitly Thinking the Stangs are saving a few bucks in the "revenue share" against the Hawks by saying there was only 2105 there that's forsure.

So some people say that it is 30% of the gate for the payout. Does anyone know what the actual ruling on this is. melfort uses cash registers so it should be pretty easy to figure out what ticket sales were for the game. If so nice payday for the Hawks .

Can anyone confirm that nobody was turned down at the gate?

I would say that 2105 is the official city capacity number. we probably never will be told the actual number.

What is the deal with gate sharing? Is it a third up to a certain amount if an extra game is played in one rink or is it a third of every gate from both teams. I also heard a third of every playoff game goes to league and it is split between all playoff teams depending on # of games played. I have heard all three mentioned around. Too bad the league doesn't let this out maybe more would travel out of town if they knew their money would go to their own team. I go wherever I want just to see the hockey and I know teams need all the gate money they can get but I also like to support my team as much as possible. Maybe maybe some SJ fans from Nipawin would come to melfort for the next series if they knew some money could co back to the Hawks. Problem With this is teams would under report attendance like they used to when all gate money during playoffs was evened out by the league

The hawks will get 30% of the gate from this game. The only way there is split gate is if the series ends in an odd number game won by the home team. Had Nipawin won, the series in game 5 in Melfort, they wouldn't have got anything.

So from a strictly monetary view a team would make the most by losing the league final in 7 at home.

In regards to the series between Nipawin and Melfort and this is what I understand and have been told and this is in the league constitution. That in the event that a 7 game series ends in game #5 the visiting team (Nipawin) gets 30% of the gate sales from game day from Melfort. They do not get 30% of the total gate for that game just from ticket sales on the day of the game. This applies to every team in the league.

That makes even less sense as it was reported that Melfort was basically sold out on Friday so not many tickets would have been sold on Saturday

Melfort's Mayan, Frei and Boyer, linemates are all 19 so could be together next year. Nipawin's Spriggs, Mignault and Dunlop, linemates are all 19 so could be together next year.
Looking back at game 3 in Melfort - Only time all season Nipawin gave up 7 goals. Only time all season Melfort gave up 6 goals.
Neither team had back up goalies that were game proven so the coaches really had no option but to stay with the starter.

What are the odds any of these will be back next year? All are likely hunting an NCAA scholly. If they don't have them in their pocket this spring they'll all try to jump to a league with more exposure.

I really hope the minion line comes back next year, I think one more year tearing up the point would be good for them.
Another note, all the minion players are fairly untested with other line mates. It will be interesting to see if one school will try and get all three? Maybe all three aren't interested in school, who knows?

This is why I love junior hockey actually, anything and everything can change year to year. Laronge could be champions next year with some summer recruiting or not make playoffs, it's a total guessing game!!
Now that all leagues in western Canada are down to the final two, it's fun to watch what's happening in other leagues. I don't know if any of you were half ass following the ajhl, but bonnyville was really giving spruce grove a run for their money. And Camrose and brooks are in game seven tonight, might have to listen to that one.

Can't see any reason they wouldn't return.

I predict frei and Mayan are back. Boyer likely but he has Ivy League SAT score so who knows there.
