I'm curious about that too. I just can't justify a FH sub when all if want to watch is Mustang games anyway, and I'd probably only use it to watch 1 or 2 a month (until playoffs).

Sorry, this is a long one. I am back on the soap box. I believe when we were with Neulion a percentage of each viewer a team had went to pay for the teams league fees. The teams decided to just do that instead of getting a cheque back from the league. Not sure how the new deal works. Some places like Flin Flon just can't get the feed to the Building. They have tried and it will cost a load of money to get it there. I will give them a pass. Maybe it is time to just shut that one down until it can be fixed. We here in Melfort have paid a small fortune for equipment, a lot of it paid for by begging for money (I'm not proud of it but We needed it). But here's the funny part in this. We have spent all the money we can and yet we get the lowest viewers head to head. Here are some comparisons. Sep 18, 2015 LA @ Mel : 69 viewers Sep 19, 2015 Mel @ LA : 92 viewers Oct 2, 2015 Mel @ LA : 94 viewers Oct 10, 2015 LA @ Mel : 76 viewers Oct 17, 2015 Mel @ Wey : 65 viewers Oct 24, 2015 Wey @ Mel : 59 viewers (Saturday night game, no radio, no baseball) Oct 30, 2015 Mel @ NIP : 64 viewers Oct 31, 2015 NIP @ MEL : 58 viewers Nov 4, 2015 Mel @ FF : 79 viewers (tried to watch) Nov 5, 2015 FF @ Mel : 71 viewers These are the only head to heads I have. So you see we spend more and get back less and don't complain how much it costs. Well maybe the board does at meetings but no ones tells me. I know the reason Al, pretty simple. I don't think anyone in Melfort knows how to use a computer. Ok fine, I can admit this is pretty funny

It is people in other centres who aren't using their computers, we seem to support other teams. :-)
I think it is becuase of our central location where a lot of our parents travel to Melfort to see games where traveling to LA or FF is not as easy.
I asked about viewing numbers on Neulion all the time but was not given access to them.

I don't know if its parents travelling to melfort to watch games. melfort is only averaging 702 fans per game. although fans should watch melforts as it is the standard every team should have. excellent job.

Why does the SJHL bother to have a web page. The discipline report and transactions pages are 2 weeks behind. Can't even be bothered to do up the weekend results. Total waste of time.

Why is the league so secretive in the DISCIPLINARY REPORT, is Chow hiding something with all the questionable suspensions going around

Why is the league so secretive in the DISCIPLINARY REPORT, is Chow hiding something with all the questionable suspensions going around I guess one could make an argument that's in any league's best interest to give the impression there are very few suspensions in order to sell it as a safer league for players. I'm not sure if that's what is happening here, but I'm pretty sure that sort of thinking is why the SJHL stopped publicizing all the suspensions in the news section of the league website a few years ago. My question is whether all SJHL teams are informed about each suspension, regardless of what's put in the discipline section of the site. Because it's hard to argue that the suspensions are serving as a deterrent to future dangerous plays if even the players aren't hearing about the consequences.

I'm sure the SJHL website will have this updated in a week or three but Battlefords beat La Ronge 1 to 0 in Pinehouse tonight (neutral site game). Sounds like there was a good crowd there. Line Brawl in the 3rd according to the radio broadcast.

I see they are waiting to post the oh so awesome power rankings till Xmas day......Why don't they do something spectacular and update the disciplinary report and be transparent like every other league. Is there something they are trying to hide? ?

Is there something they are trying to hide? ? It's beyond me why they wouldn't want to keep people interested in what's going on. The discipline and transactions should be posted within days of them happening not 2 flipping months. Pretty sad when the local minor hockey (volunteered) website is more updated.

I don't see how player safety is served by NOT publishing the suspensions. Even if the teams are informed about all of the suspensions, the worst offending teams are spared the public shaming from the SJHL community that should come their way for dirty plays.
It's one thing for your team to lead the league in penalty minutes or fights. It's quite another if your team is the SJHL leader for suspensions from dangerous plays. No fan of any team takes pride in that little stat. Eventually the message gets sent by fans, board members, billets or volunteers that their community's name doesn't need to be tarnished that way.
Maybe it's time for people on here to post the suspensions they are aware of.

I agree but depending on who it is the post may get deleted. even when certain posters who are board members know the truth. when it hits close to home those are only rumours.

I don't think Bill Chow really gives a crap what we think, the people who administer this site should be ashamed of themselves. It's the worst Junior A website in Canad.

Without a doubt the biggest joke of a website in the country... It's trade deadline day and the last trade was updated at like 10 this morning.. Maybe in 2 weeks we'll hear who was traded... I believe out of province trades are done at 6 and within the Sjhl is done at 8..

There are suspensions that aren't on the list as well. Nothing noted out of the battleford game where Zary and Mayan plus 3 NB guys got suspended awhile back.

"Travis Mayan's 35th goal of the season was the lone goal for the Mustangs (27-10-3-1), who became the last team in the league to hit double digits in regulation losses."
This probably seems nit-picky,but this quote comes from the story by Craig Stein on the SJHL website. If he is going to write for them, why would he not check all 3 division standings before he hits send? I'm not saying Melfort isn't a good team, but this fact just is not accurate and makes him look bush-league to anybody outside of the top 2. Now this weekend Weyburn hosts NB on Friday and Melfort on Saturday so I'm sure the magical #10 is coming, but give credit where credit is due! I realize Craig is a financial guy from Yorkton and not a fan of the Mustangs, but I would still think the #1 rule of journalism is to make sure your story is accurate.

I turned on the radio while I was driving home from an event last night. All I caught was Mr. Hart saying the final was 4-1. On the site it says it was 3-1 in favor of Flin Flon. Is this another site screw up.

Not to complain about the fine work of volunteers, but can Humboldt not possibly move the speaker that is directly in front of the camera when viewing the visitors end? it looks as though they just need to raise it a foot or so. It see,s like an easy fix. Also, why do they not tie in to the visiting teams radio broadcast? Very easy to do. Yes you van stream the radio online but it is not simultaneous so the video is generally 5 seconds ahead of the audio. Frustrating.

if the video is ahead of the audio, pause the video for as long as you need to so they match up.

After doing a little research for Stars123 and answering his question for him about the wonderful rookies on the Stars, I have come to the conclusion that the SJHL website actually has almost all the information. It may be in the wrong form and not even close to user friendly, but if you are willing to put in a little time and effort your questions can be answered. It is very interesting to look back through the first years of the league and recognize some of the names of players that have stayed around town after their playing days were over. And more importantly to come back and contribute to their teams either directly or by sponsoring, etc. All you have to do is go to the fan zone on the SJHL homepage and click on historical stats, then select your preferred years. 1968-2004 is a huge pdf with a ton of information but if you can wade through it I'm sure you can find a lot of interesting stuff about your team and this league that we all love.
Now if only the league could fill in the missing years( 2005-2010)........ and maybe post the rulebook on the website somewhere so that us Fans could answer our own questions about the officiating instead of guessing!!!
