I can see that point but I also know that the best played and most exciting games were the Wings/Bruins games down the stretch last year! And neither team suffered real catastrophic injuries or fatigue By the looks of things Super smart to get the North 4 in 5 road trips outta the way early like last year! Bonds the team early and avoids the terrible travel weather THOSE 4 in 5’s are where the injuries and fatigue pile up! I’m personally pumped to see this team hit the ice this season

I agree completely about the north trips but would still like to see some Estevan action earlier and more spread out. Last year after the home opener, the Wings hardly played at home for weeks. I think it hurt the hype in the city. The fans need to get a chance to watch them early to build some interest. A few games against Estevan is the best way to get the fans out.

I agree it would be cool to see a Wings/Bruins Opening wknd home and home but I’m sure there are reasons neither team wants that Either way it’s gonna be a great rivalry again this season ! Thinking the Wings should/better reverse their fortunes/record against the Bruins this year if they have designs on top spot ?!!

Riley Lamb has cleared waivers in WHL. Coming to Weyburn? Makes sense.

I believe he signed in Weyburn prior to making Red Deer 2 seasons ago Rights would be maintained nationally in Weyburn correct?

Was able to take in the Wings/Terriers game last night. Here are a few of the things I noted : - very entertaining but sloppy game from both teams. Looked like a first game of the year for 2 periods - Legien is a very dangerous threat to score shift in and shift out. Despite the 3 assists he seemed to be very focused on solo attacks which teams will / should adjust to - Yorkton will have trouble defending all season with the current lineup - Brandt and Bruchkowski just didn’t seem to consistently give the Wings enough pressure to finish them off while they were down - I thought Petruic looked really good in spurts and will come around - Riley Lamb is LEGIT. He held the Wings in thru 2 periods until they were able to shake the cobwebs out. - the first 2 periods were like a preseason for the Wings as they had apparently not had the chance to dress that lineup or lines prior to last night - Hiltz, Kowalski and Kazymyra are as advertised. Fast, Skilled - Petrie was very solid, Szeremely got better as the game went and looks to be an underrated Dman, Schwean and Scheschuk looked great too - Rookies on both sides looked understandably nervous and struggled If the Weyburn 2nd line of Olson, Pyne and Brown get going they will be tough to beat. All 6’3-6’5 and 205-235 lbs!!! Lamb / Kowalski were the best players on the ice for me.

Agreed that it was sloppy game until the third when the Wings found a new gear and settled in. Yorkton goalie looked very shaky on his few shots in the first but that being said, I don't recall a bad goal. Legien is a force out there. He was always ahead of everyone else and danced around Weyburn defence. I also liked Klatt. He looked a step above the rest. I think Weyburn's weakness is the defence. The big losses from last year have hurt them. Hopefully someone will step up to fill those shoes. Lamb was a piece the Wing's needed. He was the only reason Weyburn was still in the game after two periods. However, I thought 3 out of the 4 goals against weren't great goals. One of them was missing the net and he put it in himself. It is early in the season though and probably has some rust to bang off seeing how he didn't participate in fall camp. Hiltz took offence to a tripping penalty in the third period which seemed to light a fire in him. He responded with a goal and an assist when he got out of the box. Maybe he should get pissed off more. I thought best players on the ice were Kazymira (hat trick), he was flying out there and Hiltz with a four point night and Legien. In my opinion it was their show.

2 for sure but maybe 3 of the Terriers goals were deflected. Lamb had no chance. I thought the Terriers shortened their bench earlier. Wings shortened theirs for the 3rd going mostly with 2 lines and 4 D that kowboy mentioned and that changed the game. I’ll say this ... Wings have some high end talent iup front and on d and in goal. They will have to get their third and fourth lines going. As for Yorkton the have some fantastic 20 year olds up front. They will win their share of games.

Yeah I have to agree with MTS on Lamb. He was stellar all night Didn’t see a flaw in his game Looked calm under pressure like Carey Price And to agree with Ygafi, Hiltz is a beast (especially when motivated) and tough to move down low If I’m a college team I’m helping him clear the NCAAs and getting him signed ! Maybe Ferris sees the amazing chemistry with him and Kowalski??! Also, congrats to Wings leadership group named so far - Brown - Assistant Captain Kowalski - Captain Both guys looked the part last night as Brown played his normal solid puck protect and share game. Very underrated passer and great on the PP And Kowalski with his 4 pts, especially his forecheck really enabled his line mates to do their thing and position in front to receive and snipe Looking forward to who they name as the other couple assistants ?!

See Lamb left the game last night.Did he get ran.Or just hurt. Ran over twice. Left the game the second time. Seems to be a pattern in Weyburn?? Is it chippy goalies who bring it on or a lack of fire from the team when it happens?

Not looking like Estevan or Weyburn are the power houses that was expected. Im surprised the wings arent scoring more with those 3 Aaa players they have. Maybe just time to settle but I thought they would be lethal. Hopefully very even to keep the rivalry smoking

Felt bad for the Wings last night. They played really well IMO and unfortunately nothing went their way 1st line looked super dangerous but zero bounces! 3rd line chips in with a goal and the 4th line buzzed and cycled well on their shifts. I’m sure Lesveque was a bit nervous in his first home start and would like that game as a do over Reffing was really off, again IMO

The refs were busy tonight. Lots of minutes in penalties. Was it the refs fault for the loss? Serious question! 🙂

Last night the game sheet said Lamb and Diamond fought at different stoppages. Guess there was too much info too fast to get it all straight the first time. Gotta chuckled at the fans who went home with a minite left to be the first to realize they cant get out of their parking spot . Wyonzek worked the game in Melfort Friday. Also called way more than necessary. Took away from the game.

My call would be 3 as per guidelines for Lamb and Diamond. 2 for Brown, Schwean and Petrie, as well as their respective dance partners.
Coaches get two each as well.

Hopefully Gladu's skating has improved since his time in Laronge. He definitely will bring some more size to a lineup that already has some big guys. Is this just a coincidence that they bring him in after the fun they had with the bombers.

Don’t wanna be naive but this is more coincidental than planned for “that type” of player If FF had brought him in I think you could more reasonably draw that conclusion. Weyburn already has several guys where Flin Flin has zero The Wings have several injured and/or suspended players and head out on their 4 game in 5 night northern road trip next week after 2 games this weekend A depth move really Still think that they will have to make a move or 2 more for some additional skill as that has been an organizational disappointment thus far
