Hey yourewrong! You're right.. this is how I see it. As a 17 tr old most kids are in school at home living for free and holding various jobs. Ie, making money no expenses. As a 17 yr old in AAA you pay to live and probably cant have much of a job. Ie, making no money with high expenses. A 17 yr old in JrA has no living costs and might be able to hold a low commitment job. Ie, not getting paid to play but someone is paying to have them play. Whether the cheque is made out to the player who pays for his room and board or directly to the landlord JrA kids are paid to play. Can be interpreted 100 ways. That's just how I see it. Happy New Year all. There is lot's of speculation and inaccurate information out there. Some kids are highly desired and can choose where they sign and if they play well they generally stay there until, as a 20 year old they ask to be moved at a deadline or the team moves them for assets for the following year. Most of the players get invited to spring or fall camps and sign where they get an offer (usually can only attend one or two camps because of timing. They sign hoping to secure a good spot and lots of playing time. Coaches/GM's sing kids for many different reasons and it is a job to them. The players for the most part, play because they love the game and hope to move on to somewhere. It is difficult for them to hold a job because the teams generally keep them quite busy. They will volunteer or have some other job which is flexible enough to accept that their hockey schedule comes first. There are very few, particularly in the Prairies, who get paid for a 'fake' job. Most teams in the CJHL cover their room and board. A few teams ask the kids to contribute to room and board, but not many. In leagues in the US, such as the NAHL and NCDC, kids pay thier own room and board.
NOt all teams are run the same. Sometimes it isn't a good fit. We have all had a boss that we just didn't click with. However, here the player has very little options. They must ride it out in an unhappy spot. On some teams, if they ask for a trade, the coach sends them home and holds on to their rights. They sit and wait, sometimes for many weeks, just hoping to get traded.
somewhere that they can play and enjoy themselves. I understand why the coaches make moves, but some of them are much better at remembering that these are just kids.
But let's try to avoid the sweeping generalizations. Most of them are good kids and good people who have gotten to this level because they have worked hard and continue to work hard. A few of them are entitled, but they are not the norm. I think that we should just enjoy the effort they put in and show some tolerance and empathy.
And with most of the teams in the SJ running budgets in excess of $600K, we should get out and support the teams. The ticket sales don't cover the budget. Some community minded people and businesses make it possible for us to watch such a great level of hockey in our small communities.

Not to speculate but this guy would probably make a great head coach and GM. Not saying that's the case but his resume is pretty good. Dont know much about his character, hope it works out

Word is camrud is suspended? Not in the lineup so I’m guessing yes. Also Dow missing?

Camrud took a major for cross checking the last game before the break. Gotta be gone for at least 2 games.

With chows bias against the Mustangs I doubt it!! Remember the time you had someone from Melfort (McIntosh) ref over 50% of your playoff games on the way to your last championship? And Chow told people it was because he wanted to save on travel costs. Cool story, bro.

It’s definitely a suspension, he could have seriously injured the mustang player. He cross checked him in the back of the neck not once but forcefully twice. All over the mustang player accidentally tripping the humboldt player.

I thot that had been well documented in this forum already.
However all my info is 3rd hand or older so I'm not saying and I'm also not trying to hide anything. Just too far removed to comment with accuracy or fairness.

Bit of an interesting trade moving Felgueiras out. Bigger Dman with good offense numbers.
What gives?

I'm sure it's just a rich organization buying the pieces they need from a hopeless team who will sell anything or anyone for a few needed dollars. Jk of course. Yes an interesting trade but Portage likely has a better chance of going further than Humbodlt, makes some sense if he was 20 but he is only 19.

It’s head shaker alright, second place overall, and they trade their top D? I can only assume what’s coming back next year is going to be top end, or a bucket full of cash.

I cant see why Hum would even consider cash now. It has to be talent and I'm wondering if he and another player will come back next year as his own future consideraton

He played with us for the RBC year and his rights along with Lashinski(sp) went to Flon the following season.

My math shows the Broncos only have 2 20 yr olds and 4 19 yr olds on their roster as if Nov 27. Very young team to be sitting in 3rd overall. Good for this year probably better for the next 2
