Those players were acquired June 20th, June 21st, and June 27th respectively. Oystrick was hired July 3rd. My point is Darcy didn’t acquire them. You said he should be given credit for those 3 players.. We don’t know when Nathan was officially hired.. it was made public July3rd..

No, I said Darcy's players + those 3 equaled the magic formula. According to the StarPhoenix, Oystrick's first official day on the job was July 25th. Either way, he didn't acquire those players. Is he the only reason the Humboldt team was rebuilt? No. Is he the number one reason the Humboldt team was rebuilt? No. Did he fill a role just like the dozens of others that it took to rebuild? Yes.

In all of this, I am most distressed at the treatment of the expansion players. In no other legal 'business' do you get to treat kids like this and yes, they are kids. Some of those boys left team roster spots and are now playing Jr. B? WTH. Shame.
All you are going to get is someone's version of the truth. You will not get the whole truth in any of this. So, why bother digging for it.

Gotta say, I read it like stars123 did, as if you were saying Darcy brought in those guys. I doubt you would get Dowe to the SJ without the emotional pull of Humbolt.

This has been an interesting thread to follow..and only a few people really know what's really happening in Humboldt. As for the players, it's evident something went sideways last 10-12 games. The comment on Dowe though, I heard Drumheller made him available as he was going into his 19yr old season and wasn't going to be their starter..so good fit for both the player and Humboldt, he's making best of his opportunity.

Definitely, he is making the best of the opportunity. But knowing both him and Vistorek (20 year old Drum starter) he could have stayed or found a home in the AJ. Humbolt would have a little extra pull this year is my point.

So, why bother digging for it. As I said earlier. Trying to rebuild after the tragedy was a huge stretch. But then you add the resignation of team president, 3 board members, assistant GM. An even bigger hill to climb. A great start to the season, belief that you might be able to be a champion again, move a few players out, bring in a few with questionable backgrounds, and now fire a head coach. Wow!! And no! I don’t think we will know the whole truth. And I’m not sure we need to.

That can also be viewed as they arent getting what they want, so are sitting on the shelf.

Stay home be happpy and play junior b or senior hockey I agree Klipperman, however if these kids aren't going to report, then it shouldn't cost the team a card. How many kids refuse to report in Major Junior Hockey? my guess is very few, if any. Junior A players it happens all the time. The league needs to step up and make a resolution that if kids don't report it doesn't cost your team a card. Heck I would like to see this a a national level, kids don't report, they can't play across the country.

The problem comes from it being a game for the kids and business for the club. Are they employees or not. Does the staff have the right to tell them what to do and where to do it? They are people but when you sign a card you become the property of... which means they own you and you are a commodity. If you don't like that then by all means you have every right to choose your town and play where you want. Sometimes that reality is shaded by the dream and those who want the player ignore a few facts to help the player choose in the favor of the clubsbest interest. It comes down to honesty and transparency.

Every kid knows when they sign a card there is always a chance they can be moved from 18 on anywhere in the cjhl. When under 18, can only be moved provincially. Yes it is a business, the team's are trying to stay financially viable, the players are trying to get something out of it as well, the next level or schooling..so is that not a business relationship between players and teams they play for? If you don't like where you get traded to, don't report. But let's not make this all about poor kids being mistreated. A few years ago guys were just happy to be playing, anywhere, now the age of entitlement is alot different. Boy, this kind of got off topic a bit, lol..

They can choose, just like you and I can choose where to work. There’s difference. Teams just think they own these young men. As far as I’m concerned if the want to play AAA or Junior, you should finish what you start, but I’m not going to criticize a kid because he wants to play close to home, rather than be traded 3 times or to nowhere Canada. You can’t use Tier 1 as a comparison, those kids have half a chance of making it to the next level. Most of these will play in Senior or not at all.

Didn't say they couldn't choose..choose to sit n Waite it out if someone else will pick you up, closer to home, or for whatever reason. In most cases if.kids are traded it's to benefit both sides, usually giving the kid a better opportunity to play.. unless the kids a ass, then they get traded to who ever will take a chance..just like.the real work place, Character people are always sought after

It's a business on community welfare. Yes if they were operated like a personal business they would all be broke years ago but the community handouts described as advertising makes the difference. It is a job to the staff, a game to the players and a service club to the board and volunteers...doing something admirable for the community. That is what makes it so unconventional.

Junior A hockey is not a business. It's unpaid labor gettin promised a very minimal chance of improving their skills enough to get a worthwhile shot at increased benefits. It's legit the worlds worst temp agency in terms of business.

Hey yourewrong! You're right.. this is how I see it. As a 17 tr old most kids are in school at home living for free and holding various jobs. Ie, making money no expenses. As a 17 yr old in AAA you pay to live and probably cant have much of a job. Ie, making no money with high expenses. A 17 yr old in JrA has no living costs and might be able to hold a low commitment job. Ie, not getting paid to play but someone is paying to have them play. Whether the cheque is made out to the player who pays for his room and board or directly to the landlord JrA kids are paid to play. Can be interpreted 100 ways. That's just how I see it. Happy New Year all.

After the card is signed they go where they are sent, or don't report--and it's usually a decision made in 24 hours, pack and go. The top 5% of the talent has the power to say, "I'm going here or I'm not going" In midget they choose from the offers--different than 'choosing where you play'--and even then many offers are not legit--we want you to play here, but we want you because this team wants you, and we want the guy they have--and the kid is destined for a trade. Once signed, the kid can't talk to anyone again--organizations can talk to each other--but everything else has to be underground. So if it's so open, and they choose, why aren't the players involved in the discussion? Maybe if the discussion was open and honest, the rest of the process would be forced to be. It is a business--just not a legit one. Yourewrong is right! I seem them a lot like migrant workers in the states--no rights, if you don't want to do it someone else will, and get sent back when they are done.
I just don't see what the point of pulling kids from rosters for the dispersal draft was--Cecconi seems to be the only one still on the roster out of 10? What was the point?

Edmonds as well is still on the roster, not to correct you as I feel the draft was a joke as well. Bruins really could have used an Edmonds this year.
