Bansley looks to really be having a good run in Coquitlam too. Managed to dress for 9 of 21 games since he's signed with them in December. And to think he wasn't happy with his role in Melville.

Have to wonder how many of these players are going to put their tail between their legs wanting to come back next season.
If they left after the January 10 deadline. Hockey Canada should ban them permanently. IMO

HC could also make some key changes to the CJAHL in order to make it more attractive to players.
Unfortunately HC are so stuck in their ways that banning good players to play is easier then having a real honest look at the how things are run currently and making real significant changes.
I'm sure a few changes to the SJ would be welcomed.

Age restriction on import players.
Seems like one of the ways CJAHL would compete with BCHL.
If a 17 yr old player from say AB can play for the Wheatkings of the WHL, why can't the same kid play for FF?

Merritt leaves BCHL and heads to KIJHL Will there be more teams that follow Merritt's lead? Will the KIJHL be the new junior A league to compete for the Centennial Cup?

Got me curious to see where they finished in the standings. Then i see a team with a 16-35 recorded and a 324 win percentage made the playoffs. Sounds like a participation award.

Merritt alone, I'd say no. Look at their barn. It's small. Other Rinks in the KI are bigger. They just couldn't compete. The only way their team will have a chance and be competing for their community is through the KI. Why play in a league you'll never have a chance of competing in. I mean there's a handful in that league in a similar boat but it is what it is. Might as well get ahead of it. Can't touch the Vee's, Vipers, Grizzlies, Warriors, Brooks, Blackfaulds etc without deep deep pockets.
