Well tonight looked like a Bomber team that stood for something. This is a team with size and a dash of speed and skill.
Webb leaving did not leave a gaping hole, the new players fit in extremely well. If tonight is any indication, Etter will be the odd man out once Thomas rolls back into the lineup. He doesn't look as poised or "in place" as the other 5 who played tonight.
Rookie goalie (Newton) made a lot of good saves, and I was quite surprised with his ability to direct the puck.
All in all, if this Bomber team plays like this the rest of the way, look out. I know it's one game, but that was something.
Note on the coach watch- after getting scored on the 4th line didn't roll, the 1st line did, and surprise surprise goals came quickly!
First game I've seen in a while where the Bombers didn't take an outrageous penalty to kill momentum. Good game

I don't think Etter has anything to worry about. Size is all Thomas brings. He's young and it shows in his game. He puts himself out of position to make hits and it looks like he has no confidence with the puck. Even Knaub handles it less like a grenade than Thomas. Footspeed could also keep him in the pressbox if the rest of the D play like they did last night. Masson more likely to be in and out of the lineup than Etter.

Big win - confidence builder. Maybe even securing themselves a play of spot!

Missed the game last night, who are these "new" guys you speak of? Didn't see any new names on game sheet. According to game sheet, Webb played and got an assist. I was told he was at home awaiting a trade.....

First is Joseph Leonidas, absolute mainstay. I was impressed instantly with his puck moving, puck control, and overall poise. Great addition. I believe he spend last season, or part of it in the NAHL
Second is Holden Daley, a little bit on the small side, but a nice shot, and sound defensively ( remember it's only 1 games assessment.) He came from Bonnyville.
snipe44- Thomas brings a lot more than his size. Leave his 97% GPA in the class room, but he is a smooth skater, passes well, and plays physical. If you are looking for him to be a PPG defensemen, then you are looking in the wrong spot. He is, and will be a great shutdown player, and he is 17! So maybe he moves in and out of the lineup, but Etter is certainly the ''worst'' on the list.
I would like to see this Rylan Tkachuk kid, he looked really good in camp. He may turn into a difference maker. This is all without Lishchynsky. If he comes back, there is a good problem to be had.

Thomas might have passed well and played physical in the pre season or wherever you saw him but in the games I've seen he's not that guy. He cost his team a goal in the first home game by throwing himself out of position to be that physical player and coming up empty allowing an easy 2 on 1. Also very hesitant when he had the puck and coughed it up a few times. He might have the potential but he's going to have to start to show it to stay in the line up. This isn't pre season anymore.

You Must see Etter getting beat wide 9/10 and assume it's Thomas.
I'll agree he did cost a goal, but I think thus far every dman has cost a goal this season.
Give him time to heal and watch the future NCAA star turn into a pro.

Where has Robidoux been, Seems the Bombers are winning when he doesn't dress.

Nah. I think you just like em tall and young. Anyway, I'd say Robidoux has been at fault for more goals than the D men combined. Pretty soft glove hand for a guy with "national championship" experience. Newton looked good in his first start though. A pinball goal, a high stick and a terrible turnover (by a forward) all couldn't be blamed on him. Did a nice job directing rebounds out of trouble. Sounds like he had to make quite a few saves to salvage a point tonight too. Slipp was the backup too apparently. Is Robi full of heart like Webb and packing it in already?

I believe he's asking about Robidoux, the goalie not Rob the sports guy.

I was flipping thru some old programs from the mid 80' and saw a roster from the Creighton Bombers. Was the team actually called that in the 80's for a while or was it just a error?

You're right, they were called the Creighton Bombers and played out of Creighton's arena called the Sportex. That's how they got an SJHL team to the area because of Creighton. Shortly after they moved to Flin Flon primarily because the Whitney Forum is far better/bigger facility and the SJHL permitted the move of course.

Here we go again another year of things will get better. There is a reply on the FIESEL thread wrote by SCORP that would fit here. All you have to do is change the name to Reagan. Same every year. Players not wanting to come here. Players leaving. Searching for the one player to take them to the top. Players not developing. Coach blaming everyone but himself. Did you hear Reagan Whinning about the refs last night after the game to Hart. Very sad. At the end of the conversation Reagan said he would like to see more fans in the seats. Fans are tired of watching the same thing year after year. Anyone know how many season tickets were sold in Bomberland. The board needs to change things.

When you play a third string goalie you generally get a third string performance. Who carries 3 goalies anyways? Reagan was on the mark with the officiating but the rest was same old story. "We could be 6 and 1 right now" blah blah. Well you're not are you? You're floating around in last and it's everyone's fault but your own. Always coulda woulda shoulda. It was nice to see Robidoux bounce back at least. Made some real nice saves in the third although not a lot of pressure coming in down 5-1. For a team that spent "two days" working on the power play it sure didn't look like they practiced actually getting the puck into the zone for it. Five guys skating across the ice like a big red rover line trying to carry it in and getting stopped almost every time. You can practice certain things all you want but when they don't work you have to make in game adjustments instead of just beating your head against the wall and hoping the same thing will eventually fool them. 8 years seems like enough time to realize this.

I'm not surprised to see the same issues in Flin Flon as we are having in Melville. I called Reagan the "north version of Fiesel" a year or two ago. Too similar.

coaches are hired to be fired. The question is who do you replace him with? I could argue this season, just about anyone should have a better record, but would they?
Empey on the PP 2nd line is miserable, the entire first line and first line PP of Smith, Kocur, and Switzer need to be reigned in. Being out for a full 1:40 of a PP is stupid. I would bench them, but the end of the game tells me that they are going to come out flying tonight.
Really the problems this year is work ethic, in my opinion. Aside from a few players, the vast majority of these guys mail it in about 90% of the game. We had over 40 shots last night, maybe 10-12 were from good spots.
perimeter team. What a piss off that is with all the size.

123 you cant blame the players. What you allow you approve. It is the coach that motivates, teaches and developes the players. That is the coach. This guy does not do that. Reagan has no trust in his third and fourth lines. His fourth line have been playing good. Give them the chance to prove themselves. No trust equals lack of respect from players.
Who will replace him? Find a coach.

Why don't you guys show up at an AGM and voice your concerns about Mike to his face instead of bashing him anonymously on a forum? And quit coming to the rink too while you're at it! By the way, very entertaining game tonight.

I am not bashing him. He is the best GM in the league. I've told him, to his face, that his coaching skills lack something.
Reason I will not attend a board meeting, I haven't the patience for different opinions. I am like Joseph Stalin, I could not sit at a table and listen to any ideas.
Now if was a group of my lads, I would be more than receptive, and we would have the best team in the history of Junior Hockey.

flinflon123 is right about Reagan when it comes to the GM part of his job. He manages to attract some pretty incredible talent to a destination that might not be the most glamorous spot in the league. The coaching on the other hand..... Ice time should be given to players that earn it based on performance, not based on "that guy has been here for 3 years so he gets top 6 minutes. I'm sorry but the captain is at best a third liner and has no business being on the point on the powerplay. Knaub takes penalties and accomplishes pretty much nothing else other than dragging down the probability of his team scoring yet he gets a spot in the top 6. Three goalies....again. Seems like enough time to cut your losses on Slipp already and give the other 2 guys a chance to fight it out for top dog. bomber2491 What does "quit coming to the rink" accomplish? There are already enough people who have done that if you haven't noticed. You must be just another board member who doesn't understand that the object of the game is to get the butts into the seats, not chase them away like they've already done.

snipe44- Nope. You are wrong. Guess the Board should bring back Troy Walkington, Ryan Hoffman or Doug Stokes eh? Because they were sooooo much more successful. I will take Mike Reagan any day of the week. Like I said before, it would be nice to see you at an AGM bringing these concerns up to Mike's face instead of anonymously on a forum.

I would love it if the dollars were there to do a GM/coach separation. I don't think mike is around next year, I think on his own, I don't believe the board fires him at seasons end.
What interesting is who replaces him, you mentioned Hoffman, Walkinton, and Stokes; all three were distators. Worst teams we have ever had were during those years.
If we could steal a coach/GM, I'd get Beatty back in sask, first priority. He is proven, and he recruits to the places no one wants to go. His BC record doesn't show it, but he is proven in this league.
I am not calling for Mikes job either. I do feel he will move on, which sucks because we need to replace his recruiting, right now, we just need to hope he gets coaching

2491, when Hoffman, Walkington and Stokes were here there was 1000+ fans in the rink. That seems to me a little more positive than 600. Ill agree with 44 on this one. A board member not realizing people in the seats equals money. How many season tickets were sold this year 2491? Success is measured by how well you do in the playoffs. Pretty easy to make the first round in this league. Be one of ten in a twelve team league.

I'm pretty sure I'm not a Board member. Season tickets were $200 back then. Pretty sure Reagan doesn't set the prices. Easy to make playoffs? Walkington, Hoffman and Stokes had 1 appearance between them in 5 years. Game tickets are not numbered anymore either. Maybe people can't afford it anymore. Did you ever think of that?
