He left Melville to go and coach the WHL. Which WHL team was desperate enough to hire this loser?

Just heard a nasty rumor that the Mils have resigned Fiesel for 2 more years. Too lazy to go out and look for a coach. If so I hope they enjoy an empty stadium. Have heard from a lot of season ticket holders that they won't be back if he is. Can anyone confirm this that he is back?

You could likely call Dawn Melnychuk
President of the Mils
Phone: 1-306-728-4457 days. I am sure she would know the truth.

Seems too early to me, this is usually a late March or early April deal. I also know of a handful of people giving up their season tickets if Fiesel is back.

Absolutely, the attendance numbers are slowly slipping on paper and I'm sure those numbers are becoming more inflated as well. This season posted almost identical numbers to 11/12, the first season the HCUC was open. There's no way this season and 11/12 are even remotely close when it comes to butts in the stands. The 11/12 team was far more exciting and the rink wasn't a ghost town on a regular basis like it is now. $70k in the hole last year, average attendance dropped 73 this season. Hard to say what ratio of those tickets would have been adult:child:student but even averaged out at $10 a ticket that is in the $20k ballpark. Can't imagine even with cost cutting this season is going to fair much better when the numbers are all crunched. I'm not sure this team can afford to have many more fans who have given up hope with the team's current direction.

Yorkton has 1 home game with under 700 people in attendance- maybe $7000 income. Out of that they have to pay for a road trip to La Ronge for a couple days or more- Likely $5000 in costs. Not to mention Yorkton has to pay billets, staff, ice rental, sticks, etc for a couple extra weeks. I bet Melville is secretly happy they missed the playoffs!!

Maybe but there are other facets to that gem of truth. There are 6 teams who are paying billets and buying ice time with no income for a week or so. It also depends what the teams goal is - win or make money. Lets not open that discussion again though. IF - Estevan losses 1st round they will sit for several weeks with no income and billet / ice time expense. I wrap it up to the cost of business.

Only a guess here, but I bet there will be an announcement that he's been re-signed once the league playoffs are over. Just reading between the lines and going by how things have gone in the past.

I hope that you are wrong. Only reason he would be resigned is that the executive is too lazy to be bothered to look for another coach. Not that it matters with the direction this team is taking anyhow. I would be surprised if this franchise makes it 2 more years. Hope I am wrong but I have not seen any positives out of this team in the last 2 years. 70,000.00 in the hole the previous season and I would think this season will not be any better. No fund raisers to speak of and diminished attendance. I believe this team is in a world of hurt.

Sure a lot of ex-Mils playing in league finals this year.
Knaub, Bykowski, Foyle, Reitmeier, Bear, Hansen, Kitt, Clark, Palmer, Zvonkovic, Boutin.

Bykowski - Portage; Knaub - Portage; Boutin never played for the Mils, however was on the list at one point and Palmer hasn't played a game in the post-season.

The Melville Millionaires have chosen not to renew the contract of Head Coach/General Manager Jamie Fiesel.
In a press release issued this morning, President Dawn Melnychuk says, "We would like to thank Jamie for his 12 seasons and contributions to the organization. Although this season was disappointing, Jamie has provided much success to our club throughout his time with us and we wish him the best."
Fiesel took over from Steve Young in 2004 and led the Mils to three appearances in the league championship series, where they lost to the Humboldt Broncos in 2007 and 2009 and then to the Yorkton Terriers in 2014. Prior to Fiesel's arrival, the Mils had previously been in the league finals in 1993, losing a seven game thriller to Flin Flon and also in 1977 and 1972.
The Mils posted .500 or better records in nine of his twelve seasons at the helm and as of the end of the season, Fiesel was the SJHL's longest serving current bench boss with one team.
The search for his replacement begins immediately.

To be honest this is kind of a surprise to me, I kind of figured if Fiesel left it would be on his own terms.
I couldn't help but think if there was a year to make a change that this was it. Reeve and Lamberty are done anyway so it is a good time to start fresh. 21 players eligible to return, a handful of AAA players committed on top of futures from Melfort and Estevan. Very few coaches are able to take over a situation like this. Almost all the recent hires have had their work cut out for them rebuilding the roster. La Ronge, Estevan, Weyburn, Humboldt. Kindersley maybe not quite to the same extent. Blevins and Cassan are probably the only two that come to mind having taken over a better than average situation.

Geeze I feel like you guys are rubbing it in here. Middle man moves three 19 year old players with little to show for it. Not serious, but it is interesting seeing how many players that were either Mils or Mils list players playing for championships elsewhere. Noticed Sutherland, Cameron and Kehoe were all playing in the Keystone Cup as well, not that it really has any implications on this season given it is a step below and one was an overager.
I enjoyed watching both Foyle and Reitmeier play. Both the underrated type of player needed for the second or third line role on a championship type team. Reitmeier a bit more effective in space with his speed, Foyle a bit more sure handed around the net. Both hard workers and level headed as well, the only issue here was we had 4 lines of guys who were the same.

Mils fans should be excited. New potential with a good roster and futures and prospects. Fiesel left it in good shape for the ice portion. Look back to when Johnson came to Nipawin,- no roster, no prospects, and no money. In 5 yrs the Hawks are among the winningest team in that time, breaking even and competitive. Your new guy will have more to work with so the team has a good future if the board and volunteers stick with it. Yes - the Sj just got duller - agreed - unless Thoma has a brother!!!

Lol didn't kitt score the winning goal in game 7 against the Hawks? You nipalosers can chirp the Mustangs all you want but they are in final and one of the only teams to probably see black ink this year! All you bomber fans think it's in the bag but the series is 2-1 right now soon to be 2-2! Go Stangs!

Kitt cost Melfort a goal and Reitmeier scored a shorty. Bitter sweet since Kitt wanted out. Was no shot at the Mils...more of a little rub at Kitt. Good for Melfort for being in the black. Wouldn't it be great if all the clubs were. Hopefully they can stay there with the rebuild coming up. Looking like a lot of holes to fill. GO BOMBERS GO!!!!!

Kitt for a small amount of cash isn't a bad pick up to add depth and size. He cost them a goal last night? Your other bomber fans on here said it was a clean hit. So maybe a poor to marginal call cost the Mustangs the goal.
The shorty was a very bad break off the end boards too. Basically a gift. It's Not like he toe dragged himself from end to end.

I would of ranked Fiesel as 1 of the best GM's in the league.. Always had competive teams.. I think they could be big shoes to fill.. I'll never forget the blind man with the cane... Priceless... Will be interesting to see if new coach puts his own stamp on team or go with the players that could come back.. I'm told the futures from Melfort is HUGE.. The new coach and GM should write Fiesel a thank you letter.. Wonder if Rockie Zinger will apply..
