They did get the score to 5-3 early in the third but the sloppy play wasn't over and full points to the Hawks for not letting the Bombers get any momentum How could they get the score to 5-3 early in the 3rd?? the only scoring that took place in the 3rd was Nipawin...

I don't think the Bombers expected a lopsided score either, they seemed content to watch the Hawks dive bomb them for the first period. I have to admit the Hawks are nice to watch...but they are not the kinda team you wanna give a 4 goal spot in the first period. Unforced errors and some really sloppy play did not help the bomber cause. They did get the score to 5-3 early in the third but the sloppy play wasn't over and full points to the Hawks for not letting the Bombers get any momentum going. Having said all that...I think the Bombers were not at the top of their game...they need their intensity back, nothing was really working, far too many good scoring opportunities for the Hawks, missed assignments and general lethargy in the first. That is about as objective I can be, I will say the bombers were better after the first period, but their next game is vs the Hawks in Nipawin....they need to make a statement that says...that was not the Bombers we know, need the real team to show up. Full points to the Hawks on a great road game in a tough place to play. L4D Probably more to do with the fact that they've steam rolled there opposition of late. Then when it's was time to elevate there game the team wasnt really ready. I'd expect a different outcome next meeting.

My apologies to Stars123...I should not go by memory...have you ever done that...the bombers got it 5-3 late in the 2nd period. And Mack I agree with your point...but I don't feel there are excuses for that first period of hockey...just not mentally ready for the game...its a reason...not an excuse. I believe mike will have a productive chat about expectations going forward, and I expect a better effort in Nipawin. L4D

Absolutely no excuses for for the way the Bombers played last night. The first 10 minutes had to be some of the worst hockey a person could watch. Blind passes up the centre, lazy coverage in front of the net, soft battles along the boards, lazy goaltender recovery...all by veteran players to boot. Players that know what it takes to win and should know the importance of these last remaining games. Almost feel like throwing their names out there but I won't. 5 goals on something like 11 shots is unacceptable for any team. Robidoux got hung out to dry and then yanked. Guess we'll see how they rebound in Nipiwan. Hopefully this was an eye opener...maybe what they needed...rather it be now than in the playoffs. Oh one other thing. I've heard from quite a few people that there's a couple players complaining about their ice time. Not talking about players in the stands. Players that are always in the lineup. You know who you are. Well guess what? Maybe earn it because right now your not!!!

You best mention some names. Often those types of players don't connect themselves to the concern when it is addressed to the whole group. They need their names attached to it. They pout and then hopefully move on......

I do agree with you fanonthemove...but I believe most of them realize who they are and am not putting their names out there because of one game. No need for some scout to read that when one if not two of them could get a scholarship if they really wanted it. Definitely not if they were watching that game unannounced though. As for the ice time whining I'm hearing about I also heard about it last year with one of the same players. When I hear something once I usually take it with a grain of salt...but when you hear it 2 3 4 5 times...well you get where I'm going. To bad to cause there's a tonne of skill there. I guess that's the new world we live in where everyone thinks they're entitled to everything.

With Nipawin win last night, tonight's game becomes very important. Assuming will be a playoff like atmosphere. Don't think Flin Flon wants to end the season in 4th.

Nice rebound win for the Bombers and another notch on Robidoux's shutout belt. Glad Reagan gave him the start. Nothing against Newton but I didn't think Robidoux deserved to be pulled in the last game. It's going to be tight right to the end. Go Bombers!!!!

2 or 3 players complaining about ice time on the Bombers...surprised Mike still has them on the team....or callin BS on that one more like it. Matters not if they play like they did last nite. Where's Star123 with his "Surprised it wasn't a more competitive game at the cage"...bombes lose by 4 on home ice deserves a comment, but the Bombers shutout the Hawks by 4 and not a peep...maybe stars123 is disappointed by the Bombers winning. He should say so. Good bounce back game, setting up a great final game at the Whitney between the two teams. L4D

IMO the division is Flin Flons to lose. Easy schedule coming up. Hope Hawks can make it interesting and make the last game of the season a big one.

both teams are playing well...the final game at the whitney may determine first place...but I don't think its the Bombers to lose...the games in hand for the Hawks provided the opportunity. they won their games in hand, its not the like the Bombers blew a huge lead...they have only lost 5/6 games since Dec 01. I like this.... its the way its supposed to be. L4D

Bombers took care of the Hawks handily on the weekend. Hawks only had a few shots inside the scoring zone the entire game. Weak perimeter shots all night

I also don't agree that 1st in the division is the Bombers to loose. Both teams have something to loose. 2nd or 4th. Home ice. Seen this coming along time ago....the Hawks have had 4-5 games in hand for probably 1/2 the season...or seems that way. Standings weren't very indicative of how the season was going. There's no reason a schedule is set up with a team having so many games in hand for such a long period. Bombers do have the easier schedule but I still think this could come down to the last game. Time will tell.

Flin Flon's schedule is only deemed easier because of 2 games with La Ronge. Flin Flon barely beat the Wolves last time there. The most obvious thing is if the Bombers win out, they get the division. But don't forget Nipawin has 2 games with Melfort whom they've handled quite easily 3 times earlier this month.
So many times the last game of the year can mean nothing. This time it might mean a helluva lot. To me, it'd be great to see the game on March 7th be for first place and have a playoff like feel to it.

Just wondering why the Hawks are listed about the Bombers in the standings when they have the same points and Bombers lead the head to head series 6-1. Does the leagues use the team with more wins or is that just the flaw in the new computer program that runs the standings (also doesn't show Estevan as being third).

SJHL Constitution Article 21.2. - Determination of Regular Season Standings The Clubs having the greater number of points shall be awarded the higher position. In the event that two or more Clubs are tied with the same number of points, then the higher position shall be awarded to the Club having won the greater number of games against each other, (or accumulated the greater number of points against each other throughout the regular season, due to games being determined by shootout wins). If the tie is still not broken, then the team with the greater number of wins shall be awarded the higher position. Should the clubs be tied in all the foregoing departments, then the higher position shall be awarded to the Club having the best goals against average.
Must be the new website... So technically Flin Flon is in 2nd place right now.

How unreal was Mason?! 59 saves tonight. Tough one for the B's. Don't you mean "how stupid ". 3 minutes left in a game down by a goal is no time to take a instigator penalty when you would of been going on the power play. I'm all for a good scrap but a persons gotta use their head. Unreal goaltending on Humbodt's end. 59 shots. Another 3 goals on 7 shots at our end in the first with a 2 goal lead. Why was Lacoursier not dressed tonight? Looks like March 7 could mean a whole lot more.

haha, I suppose I could have clarified Mason, not Masson. I understand both were big stories. Robidoux can't be allowing 3 in a frame again. The B's are out shooting teams horribly and these guys need to find a way to make some big saves when their guys do make a mistake or two in front of them. Hope the atmosphere was electric back in the old barn for the TSN crews.

The midget A or ?? back up has been practicing and sitting since what .. Christmas. Its a reward for character. Well it's actually been less than 5 weeks since other goalie went down with injury. If awards are based on character than Luke Lush should be first star every game for sticking it out with the Wolves. Here's a 98 kid that has had to back stop what on a good night was a junior b team in front of him and did it with class and professionalism knowing that his numbers will be taking a beating so badly that it will affect his future. So my MVP is Lush based on character. It all stems from the problems that new coach Vossen inherited, he wasn't even able to bring in a solid back up after Mckay was injured due to mismanagement by his predecessor. Now that this mess is done for the year, I wish him well trying to build something in the future. As for the earlier question about 75 shots, no there wasn't, maybe 65, however the irony is not lost on me that this is under a "bomber" post, the team only second to the Stars for inflating shot numbers.
