High time I start my annual thread that turns 15 pages long!
Your thoughts so far? I'll start.
Goaltending hasn't been good, and I feel like they are really missing something on that backend. I'm not an Etter fan, and I feel like Masson battles hard, but misses way to many checks to get out of position.
I like the forward group a lot. They will figure things out up front, if Lesko was playing with different line mates, I feel like e would probably lead the league right now, he has looked great.
The defence has me worried. I think the goalie thing works itself out.
Mike has some deals to make, but time is in his favour.

The goaltending may not sort itself out though. They've been outscored 16-7 on this road trip. You have to logically look at this team compared to last year. Robidoux should emerge the guy but he still lays eggs now and then.
They lost their best line and replaced them with only Watson. Smith and Switzer played with grit, Watson does not. Say what you want about Empey, but they do miss him too. He was a warrior on a good 2nd line with Lavallee and Zimmer.
Zimmer can't score to save his life right now. Reitmeier is great as a 3rd liner but he is not 1st line material. Adam Wilson is missed too because of his grit and yes I know he wanted to be close to home.
On defense, Mike has brought in nobody new (Jackson is not playing enough) and replaced Roach and Morin with nobody to date. So far he has given away a #1 dman for nothing and Morin was a great stay at home left side dman.
It's great they started 6-1-1 and we all know after last season that things can turn around fast. But this team is nowhere near good enough to win. Battleford's is loaded now with Downs back. Weyburn is right where they left off. Nipawin has made moves and is heating up. Mike always seems to make the right moves so let's hope he does.

I hear there's a pretty decent defenceman available in Melville. The price will be steep, but apparently this Sinclair guy doesn't wanna play in the Ville.

I hear there's a pretty decent defenceman available in Melville. The price will be steep, but apparently this Sinclair guy doesn't wanna play in the Ville. i would think the longer this situation goes on, the price would go down... simply because he didnt report, and there would be a buyers beware tag on him... i cant see a GM give up alot and then have him not report... it also shows what his character is and would think some GM's would be scared off if the price was too high. if he would of reported and stayed until he was traded, the price would of probaby been high... could be way off, just what i think..

I think Sinclair doesn't plan on playing anywhere but Melfort. Has a job there and doesn't want to go anywhere else. Was traded Sept 26 so the 30 day waiting period is over Oct 26. Then we may see him move to the U.A. If that is what he is after.

I don't know who is going to be with me on this one, but Sinclair is not worth very much in my book. He was not an impact player. I wouldn't make a "blockbuster" move to bring him in....... maybe Etter for Sinclair 😅

Sinclair is probably the best skating dman in the league and an offensive threat. Would bolster FF's defence for sure. Next ten days will be interesting then if they are looking to deal for him. Melville was in Melfort on Sat. Wonder if Melville even met with Sinclair to see where he is at?

Panic and you lose for sure, flin flon us supposed to be near the top, and they were. And they'll get there again once posters like us start to discount them. I think every team has there ups and downs( nb stars Colby). But with Reagan coaching they'll find there way

Someone please explain this "30 day waiting period" Does this really exist? I thought teams could hold any player on their roster as long as they wanted to.

As far as I can tell a player is always property of a team if they were on their protected list. If the player move on to another higher league and return they must return to the team that owned their rights. Example: if they were on an SJHL team list and were released from the WHL they would revert back to the team in the CJHL that owned their rights. Now for Sinclair. Heard that if a player doesn't report to their CJHL team then if they wait 30 days they can leave to play in another league like the USHL without a release.

Thanks but - If that is true this situation could develop. For 30 days Sinclair won't report but is available for the $5000 max PDF, he hears wind of that and also knows that Melfort is willing to pay that price so he refuses to report for the 30 days. Melville loses everything and Melfort can then pay Sinclair the $5000 cash directly to his own personal bank account.
Because of the above possibility I don't think there is a 30 day period. Q- can a player not walk to the USHL at any point in time upon desire even if they are happy and cozy with their current CJHL team? Q- you said after 30 days he can walk to another league. Does that mean any other CJHL team, outside of their current provincial/territorial JHL?
If so, I say "loophole"!

I'd like someone to explain this "30 day waiting period" it doesn't make sense to me... It's the first I've heard of it.. Sinclair is probably put on the "not in good standing list" and his value plummets. For not reporting he probably lost all his NCAA interest....real real shame on such a talented blue liner......

A player can decide to play in the states at any time but the US team is supposed to get a release for the player from the junior team. If not, the player move could be contested. I think that is where the 30 days comes in. If a player is on the roster of any CJHL team then they cannot play on any other CJHL team unless they are traded.

The word is a small section of the Whitney Forum has failed under the weight of the snow Flin Flon has received over the last week or so. They are working on removing the snow and I would assume assess the damage and go from there.

Sorry to share the FF thread but is this worth a new one? NO IMO. Just makes the FF thread longer HAHA. - Are we now agreeing that there is NOT a 30 day waiting period?

Would suspect that Melville's return is heavily dependant on whether he reports. I think coaches in this league are starting to write insurance clauses into their deals.

You might not get that Friday roster information until Saturday if the rink isn't ready and they play their games against the Klipps in Creighton. The Sportex does have better internet service than the Whitney though so maybe it would be worth a fasthockey buy.
